Get the vet to look at the family member. At least they won't get told to take 2 aspirin and come back if it doesn't work.

After a minor accident I have been in and out id A&E and hospital over the last 2 weeks and the Covid has not been an issue, As my daughter had tested positive I was kept separate and given a room on my own. They did take a PCR test (negative) before moving me to a ward, but result was available in a couple of hours. I believe had it been positive only difference would have been the ward I was sent to. While it seems fairly bureaucratic and I am sure it could be more efficient, so far I cant really fault it.
Doctors surgeries may be be different and I hope your relative gets the treatment they require and makes a full recovery.

With rearrangements by them, it will be close to two years since my children saw an NHS dentist. Rubbish.

Aberdeenshire. I have monthly blood tests performed by nurses at my local doctors. Infusions done by nurses at nearest hospital. Had telephone consult for septic cut on same day I phoned, only slight hassle was sending a picture by email. Contrast this with friends who routinely have to wait 3 weeks for a doctors appointment in Preston even pre-covid and I really am forced to concede there is actually a postcode lottery for users of the NHS.

We can see ours any number of times for routine check ups... its when you need something doing theres a problem

Zero NHS capacity in my part of the world. I go to Leeds for my dentist, and at this rate I'll have to pay for the children to go private.
Has been like this in my part of Lincolnshire for 20 years - get kids onto a dentist list at birth. We moved here in 1990 and there was no capacity for adult NHS dentistry.

Postcode lottery for dentists too. We have a choice of 3 within 25 minutes with NHS vacancies. A number of my friends who have been lifelong private dentist users have returned to the NHS as the service levels have been roughly compatible.
I have phone consult's with my haematologist every 12 weeks, an email address direct that is usually answered in around 4 hours and on which the nurses contact me once in a while just to ask how I'm doing.
On Jeremy Whine I'm forever hearing horror stories but would have to say my doctor and Aberdeen Royal Infirmary have been on point and always felt approachable throughout the pandemic.

Marry a vet and you will never need to visit a doctor again. Obviously you don't get a lot of sympathy but we have lots of ketamine.
