Weaving GD user thread

Could anybody give me a quick refresher on the process of how to calibrate a Weaving GD (mine is a 3000M) for Linseed?

I remember that the the coulters need setting on Middle, Top.

I also can’t remember How to set the pressure for the coulter rams.

Thanks in advance.

Uneven seed depth main headache from to deep to not in the ground and blocking up on the chopped straw.
What tine drill was it? I hear you regarding seed depth; no room for anything other than a billiard table seedbed (unless you have a contour following coulter eg seedhawk etc)

You mean calibrate seed rate?
Set the barrel slide something like 30, then set rate at 60kg(if that's your seed rate) go to the back of the drill, place the bucket under the main seed outlet , press button for a minute ish.
Weigh what you get, put that amount in the control box, repeat until close enough.
It needs to be turning fast enough to not be dropping distinct spoonfuls of seed or you'll get bad bunching.

The rams are really only setting to be halfway in their travel, the taps under the hopper, and in the line from the tractor control flow direction, both halves of the drill need setting similarly.
It's not really something needs doing often.

Thank you.
Yes, it’s coming back to me now. Seed rate is about 30Kgs/ha.
IIRC, I need to put the fine seed roller bit in.
My control box is the more advanced blue coloured one.
I press the button by the feed roller for a minute then weigh the amount caught.
The box says what it thinks the weight in and I tell it what the actual weight was.
It tells me what the calibration error is and I press accept.

Is that about right?

Thanks so much @Badshot .

Thoughts I’d check with Simon Weaving about whether or not to use the fine seed gizmo and/or the slow gear.
He said neither and to set it on about number 3.
Having done so, I thought this cannot be right and rang Ed Pocock, one of the guys who built my drill.
He laughed and said Simon must have meant 30, but he suggested to set it on 20.
I did this and calibrated it 3 times:

The first time, the roller went so slowly that it was spooning it out. It had a 79% under-dose error. (I.e. it was only applying 21% of what it should have).
The second time it ran much faster and was 5% over-dosing.
The third time it was overdosing by 0.1%. That is close enough.

Just in for a coffee before I go and plant what be the FSS for next year. This is from some surplus bought in seed I didn’t plant last year.
Then empty and refill with this years FSS and recalibrate.

It’s actually very easy to do and once again, many thanks.

Glad I could help.
It's all been a bit hectic recently here.
But I do try to help others if I can as I appreciate all the help I get.

IIRC, somebody on here last year GD drilled wheat into Grassland. There were some good pictures of it as/soon after it was drilled.
It may have been @Badshot .
Whoever it was, how well did it work?
Did you Roundup it off immediately before planting the wheat or straight after.
How long after it was last cut as grass, did you leave it before spraying/drilling?

I’m keen to know because I would like to do the same on ex Legume and herb Rich pasture that we have just cut for the last time.

Is anyone using isobus on the GD? Is there a way to set the seed on and off with GPS but with a time delay, the seed takes around 3 seconds to get to the coulter so it needs to come on earlier than the GPS thinks…..hope that makes some sort of sense?

Are you using GPS/auto shut-off? If so might be possible, I’m having some teething problems with my new Topcon kit but when I did get it talking to the drill I’m sure there were options regarding the timing of starting and stopping seeding.

Yes hoping to use go’s shut off…not tried it yet though but I know the seed takes 3 seconds so worried it will leave missed bits…..the timing bit seems to be locked and not available to alter

Is it possible to trick it with altering the position of the seeder?
