I had bloke here trying to sell me diesel yesterday. He said he had no shortage of fuel or drivers and most of it is anti Brexit media hype.
There is a certain amount of stoking going on with a lot of these stories, though I realise the pig industry is in a very critical situation.

There is no shortage of drivers. They just aren’t driving lorries.
But it’s the pay and more importantly conditions that are a load of shite, that’s why they can’t fill vacancies
But apparently that’s all the governments fault, not firms who have cut one another’s throats by employing slave labour to put decent firms out of business and who are now squealing as tge supply of drivers who are willing to sleep under tge office portacabin and work for £3 an hour has dried up.

All a bit off topic this but from what has been put on the other thread and what drivers have told me there is no shortage of drivers that are employed to drive its just they spend a lot of their time waiting around for completely disorganized and understaffed firms to load and unload their lorries instead of doing what they are paid to do and drive the dam lorry up the road

Inefficient RDCs are a major part of the problem.

If there are not enough drivers driving to keep up with haulage demand, then there is a shortage of drivers! Whether the problem is drivers not driving, waiting at loading/ unloading or off sick.

It still results in a shortage of drivers.

I think there is a shortage of workers in all areas that don't include sitting at a desk and playing with a keyboard all day.

Not really.
If there are as many or more qualified drivers as jobs, there is not a shortage. [I don't know whether that is the case]
The truth would be that those jobs are not sufficiently attractive to be filled.

There is a wage / skill imbalance. Many of the primary worker roles have been vastly under valued in terms of both finance and respect.

Similar in the “Care” sector which does not demand such an onerous route to qualification.
