Lets talk about mowers again....New Holland DiscCutter 360 - will it work for me?

Will my Same Silver 130 with duals handle a 3.6m mower (no conditioner) on very steep land without breaking in half or tipping over? Rear inner tyres full of water, no front weights. Don't mind changing down a gear or two to gain the extra cutting width over my 2.8m.

Am I right in thinking the NH mower is a Kongskilde or JF mower in the ugly New Holland colours? Does it fold horizontally behind the tractor and then fold vertically too? Sounds......complicated.

No, there isn't a demo model available.....or maybe they just don't want me to have it.

Thoughts? Maybe I'm better off just putting my spare $$$$$ into a front linkage/PTO and front mower. Or maybe I'm better off to put it in my pocket.

Will you not be flattening some grass with the RH dual wheel?? A front linkage and mower would be more balanced on steep ground. Though I've heard steep is very steep in NZ..
Or,,,,,,,,,, how about a trailed machine??

I run a mounted offset Kuhn 3.1 mo-co on my JD6400. It handles it fairly well, but my land is flat. I don't do a big area, so keep the tractor on 64" centres, but if I was to open it to 72" or 80", it would be stable as anything.

The duals are only narrow. To be honest, I don't think the duals actually do anything for me, I could probably just run single wheels at a wider track width....but that's another topic for another day.

With the stabiliser arms wound all the way to the right, I can just get away with it without flattening any grass. Not great for the geometry of the hitch but it works well enough for what I'm doing. Tried without the RH dual wheel on but I prefer the stability and possibly traction.

How steep am I talking? Not that steep. I mean I can drive a tractor half way up, lift the mower, turn around (with the mower on the down hill side) and go back down. Just at the point before the cows start leaving ruts running across the side of the hill. Probably wouldn't get away with this with a bigger mower though.

Not really interested in trailed mowers, they look a bit clumsy for the stupid sh!t I'm doing. Would be ideal for silage or hay, but I want a one size fits all machine that can do a bit of topping (pre grazing) in its spare time.

Yes, a bit more weight on the front certainly wouldn't go amiss. I don't even have a battery at the front of mine.

So I went to look at the New Holland mower but the salesman was a bit of a dick so I didn't bother. I drove up the road to the local Claas Harvest Centre and bought a 1 year old ex demo old stock Disco 3550 (3.4m cut) instead.

Not quite as wide as I wanted, but much to my delight it's belt driven and looks to be very well made. Hopefully it clears the overhead powerlines.

It will definitely run a 3.6m but I don't know about stability.
