Tidy job you've done there, quite a fan of these myself. Between a few of us we have 8 of various shapes and sizes, including a rare pickup version. Bombproof mechanics but just a shame they rust so badly, especially the independent versions. The one above would be as good as or better than a new Defender or pickup in my opinion.

This, common fail is the seatbelt anchorage points becoming terminal.(n) You can ultimately chuck £££s at them on other stuff, but stopping the rot is the killer:(

the F50 was the one to have, had the strongest chassis ever put into a small vehicle.
was only let down by the poor metal in the body and a weak transfer box. would have a new one the same now if available

Just bought a fourtrak as a project, the underside is fairly bad but very salvageable. I’m new to forums, I can’t wait to get stuck into it. Does anyone know where to get sills extra, any tips would be appreciated

I often wonder how they managed to get them accepted to tow 3.5 ton when going through the homologation in the uk! Iirc they were imported by the IM group, same uk importers of isuzu.
The Mitsubishi shoguns , Nissan patrols + Isuzu troopers & I think Toyota’s all fell short of the 3.5T! Leaving the fourtrac the only towing equal a land-rover!
To the op looks very smart that indeed, nice to see one still road worthy and looking like new;)

Clearly made for farmers. They were great trucks really and pulled well. You knew every time you saw one coming towards you it was a farmer or contractor. Not many other trades would buy them, unlike all the pick ups of today.

Of their time mind. You say they pulled well and for their time they maybe did compared to a landrover but i replaced my foutrak with a 3.0 hilux and the difference was night and day. Ok hilux technically doesn't tow as much but on a particular hill to test stuff on round here the hilux with 2.5 ton behind is as fast as the fourtrak by itself. Times move on and a shame that Toyota buying daihatsu saw the end of the fourtrak and not a major step forward and improvement of them.

I had an F50 many years ago, great motor. The diesel lump was a 2.5 and I was told a copy of a BMC engine
I Cambridge rolled 25 acres of drilling next to the Fosse Way not far from where the A41 crossed for a £10 bet including dragging from the yard, unfolding and then taking them back.
It did spit out the transfer box and I did have to "lift" it from a dealership in North Oxfordshire with the help of a mate late one night as they were lifting my leg in some fashion with their ideas on how much they were going to charge. It had never reached 75mph untill that night behind his Peugeot pickup on the Warwick Bypass, all very well but there was no driveshafts connected and even though the engine was running the brakes had faded miles back!
