Selling Hay?

sell a fair bit of Hay and Haylage. majority local and most collected off farm. However some one wanted supplying with round hay about 3.5 mile away. Thought take with jeep and trailer half hour job £40 all in... Now she says has to be taken with tractor put on pallet then pushed in a small barn!! More hassle than its worth but was wondering what would be a reasonable price to charge??
said i could drop 13 small bales for £50 as could pop in the van but saying thats to expensive!!
Whats your thoughts?? Have a fair idea what people will say!!🤣

Waste of time 1 round bale or 13 small bales. Used to do a lot of hay and straw, minimum 50 small bales or pay extra. Tell her £30/bale plus£20 delivery, have as many as she wants per delivery. She just trying it on, it’s your terms not hers. If she thinks 3.80 for small hay delivered is too expensive I think you might well be better off without her….

I don't bother with horse naggers now except for a couple . One of them I used to take 10 round bales ,put them in the shed and then they would roll them out into the field and put a feeder over them . I suggested that instead of them doing that I why don't they put 2 round feeders in the field and I will put a bale in alternatively as I see one feeder getting empty I will put a bale in the other . For this extra service I wanted another £10 a bale but they would have life a lot easier but that they must be there to open the gate and take the net off . It works well cos I pass the field every day anyway......and they use (waste)more hay ! (It's £45a bale) .....and it's all bar tokens 😊

We have sold small bales on Faceache, usually with some hassle, people coming to collect fail to turn up. I don't mind delivering locally, but we had someone outside Shropshire who wanted 40 bales, next time we were passing...I told here we never passed and she offered to pay for the 80 mile or whatever round trip, 50p/mile must have put her off.
