Ford tractor advice

I don’t suppose there is any way to look up if it is approved for that or not is there?
The cab is older than the rest of the tractor so there's no way the cab can be approved for it.
In the case of the Sekura LP cab fitted to our David Brown 996 there's a plate in the cab to say which models it's approved for. I don't see why Sekura wouldn't have fitted a plate to their cabs destined for Ford too.

Do you need a tractor? If it is just for lifting you might get more for your money with a forklift, either industrial type or a rough terrain.

Ideally yes all we have at the mo is a Massey 35 and could really do with something with more grunt and more modern hydraulics. Plus I’ve only recently taken over from my late grandfather and due to his age and failing health the place has really gone downhill, so something with a loader would be really useful

I don't know how far up North you are but there is a dealer in South Aberdeenshire called Davie Singer who may be able to help you.

I must say he's done well to graft the cab on to that tractor, not sure whether it's a very early 3 or 4 cylinder LP cab, but done well to find a decent enough LP cab to fit on. That's the good thing about Ford tractors, didn't change much mechanically in 30 odd years, meaning it's fairly easy to swap parts over.
He's done two things by putting that cab on that tractor, he's improved it for something more bearable for a day's work, as said earlier, whoever designed the 30 series cab should have been shot, awful place to spend a day especially if your taller and larger than average. But secondly he has devalued it, a lot. It's a mongrel of a tractor, which would make it difficult to sell in future.
If your looking for a tractor which you will keep forever and run into the ground, it would be worth a punt (depending on the quality of work on the installation). But if in a few years, you will be looking to upgrade don't bother, you won't get much for it. Personally I don't think it's anywhere near £7.5k. £4k or £5k at the most.

Yes they can be a problem, those gearboxes. Hence why i asked.
I know of ones like that, that have done 7-8000hrs with no problems and others on 2500hrs that have broken.
The problem is spare parts as much as anything. The rest of the tractor you can get bits for or make other "bits" fit so to speak. But those side shuttle gearboxes are practically impossible to get replacement parts.

Saying that, I've a 3600hr one (4wd) that hasn't had an easy life 🙈 And I make her work hard on the small hrs a year I do 🤐 and the gearbox is fine (that's cursed that now 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️)

Assume loader been on it from new?
Beaten about or reasonably straight and tidy? Much play in the loader pins/rams to suggest it's done lots of heavy lifting and hard work?
And what are you going to use it for...?

They should lift a 600kg bag of fertiliser alright but if that's the kind of thing it's done lots of it will have taken it's toll.

Your description suggests otherwise.
Why is bits not available for a ford tractor that was available in nh blue?

Unfortunately not, the number for the loader isn’t there so have no idea what one it is. All I know is it’s an 885 with a tanco loader. I know the loader has two rams for the bucket rather than one on the early ones and its a bit rough but usable. Tractors are not my thing I’m afraid I’m a classic car mechanic, it even being diesel is a bit out of my norm

Think it will be either an 878 or 978. Probably lift at least 750kgs. Are you sure it’s a 6410? Looks like a 4610 to me. I could be wrong.
