That’s nothing new, when we had two wheel drive tractors and headed over a bank and they start to run away with you then one wheel would be going backwards and the opposite wheel going forwards And you were jumping on the diff lock to get the wheels to lock in the same direction that used to test your driving skills and test your pelvic floor muscle .
I was a passenger in a 2wd ford 76 that was towing a class jag with a trailer on the back many years ago it took off down the hill and start to gather some speed . The driver who was pretty much unflappable kept it going straight while then opening the back window lifts the spool valve for the chopper rear hitch , then pulls the rope for the rear hitch safety lock that was just outside the back window and lowers the hitch to slow the outfit down by dragging the trailer skid in the ground !!! as a young lad i was impressed , he only broke off our conversation for a moment while doing it he must have done that lot.

I ran out of field 30 years ago with a 6600 and a kidd sylorator towing a 5t trailer. Over the drystone wall and got control and round again , up through the gate and carried on filling the trailer. I had a breather when I got back to the clamp and the adrenalin wore off.
Once we got trailer brakes on the trailers ( and a fresh chopper) we ran a trailer brake extension pipe over the chopper and plugged trailer brakes in when on steep bits. Luxury.

Mate piped brakes through chopper to the trailer and somehow connected the tipping pipe so as he went down the hill he was tipping the trailer as he put the brakes on. Bit of a muddle.

The guy who worked for us did the same. He couldn’t be bothered hooking on the pipe it was never used once . 🙄🤣

Heard yesterday that pretoria has hired in alot of irish contractors to do the cartin this year. Less trailers lying on thier side this year. Aul paddy must be better drivers 🤣
Lot of tractors with Northern Irish plates about pulling silage trailers. Just as many accidents and as much crap everywhere though.

My cousin had the opposite happen, when the 900’s first came out he was hammering down a hill like that and the hydro pipe went and the chopper went over 12mph and was heading for a quarry edge, luckily the trailer driver also drove the 900’s and knew she was going to fast and could see my cousin panicking and he drove the TM straight into the side of the header to stop the harvester. 100% saved his life.
