I am doing lots this year to help, due to price of fert I have not bought, I will be fallowing more that ever, so thats lots of diesel and chemical saved along with Fert, I must email Greta to see if she wants to come and praise my efforts and award me with a medal.
I cannot work out which is the right way .do I take steps to reduce my carbon footprint and cut down on food production or do i if at all possible produce food to be available to the folks who will die if not fed next year albeit possibly but not measurably breathing in a tad les c02

I'm not sure any of it will make much difference, totally changing how we do things could cause problems of its own. On the other hand if everyone did a little bit, it might make a difference.
The problem is there's so much misinformation and lots of people are trying to make money out of the green religion, whilst not actually doing anything to help, its all smoke and mirrors.
I'm not a big fan of the "I'll do something when the planes are grounded" argument, its as pathetic as the, eat less meat and save the planet line, spouted by most of the media.

I simply don't care.

Life is short so enjoy it. Eat well, party hard, drink, smoke a cigar, fly to exotic places, see waterfalls and natural wonders......or you can live to 100 in a sodding care home, looking forward to dominos, Songs of Praise, and a trip to the garden centre.

Get this place paid off a bit more each year, then keep the house for home base, rent the land out and merrily off I fukk adventuring until I die.

I think the same as you. Live your life however you want to.

The next generation will innovate and adapt.

I just wondered what would happen to sea levels that’s all.

I think you can do all the things you mention and still be conscientious about it. It’s not black and white

Bit of a problem with the forecast of sea levels rising.

I think it's about a 10 millmetres per year. I did calculate it out once since the height of the last Ice Age it's been about the same amount for 25,000 years (Estimated values).

Sea levels were 250 metres lower when Ice was 1km thick over both hemispheres.

250 metres rise over 25,000 years is 10mm a year.

NASA currently say the trend is about 3.3mm a year.

I am pretty sure the powers that be are most concerned about the planet, after all people dying of famine helps the situation.

The speed of rise will slow... it only melts once and as the area of ice shrinks the rate slow.

On the contrary..

You are producing healthy proteins from a carbon sequestering business, you can't get much more eco climate friendly than that.

STOP APOLOGISING... agriculture is not the enemy as our blooming agricultural body keeps admitting! Not For Us aren't fit for purpose.
The problem is we're now forced to compare businesses in the same industry with each other. So you may have a dairy, permanently housing cows, growing different crops, importing feed and burning fuel hauling feed one way and slurry the other. That may not look great compared to a herd fed on all grazed grass with no concrete and little fuel burnt, but the intensive dairy might only have to keep half as many cows for the same amount of milk, reducing emissions there.
Soon gets complicated and when each business is competing for a good sales price, they're going to try and push their way over their competitor.
You only have to look at organic for evidence of that.
