Or maybe as we have far more cases than all the rest of the EU as we seem to have let it get well out of control more people in the UK are taking far longer to get over it than we are being told, could this have anything to do with the sudden shortage of workers in so many different jobs that wasn't the case 6 months ago?
Well , as Chris Whitty stated , let's have a summer exit wave rather than hang on and get a winter wave , time will telll

Its much higher than that
Yep according to the Beeb 78% are fully vaccinated but only 85% have had one dose, so we're getting close to the one dose group.
Nothing like a few cases to get the uptake going
Very true, although it took some last minute deals with a couple of "friendly countries" to actually have some vaccine. Once they got that they opened up who was eligible, otherwise we'd be still crawling along.

Why do I get the feeling that we may live to regret the UK letting this virus spread far & wide, not much that Bozo is involved in turns out well does it?
What would you suggest? Should have been let rip in April once over 50s been offered jab and everybody at max immunity from vaccine. But then as they knew f all about the vaccine they were jabbing millions with it would be hard to know that too.

This kind of virus will keep mutating. I suspect that in future, COVID jabs will be like flu jabs, in as much as they will be targeting whatever modelling predicts the most prevalent strain will be.
The trouble might be that where as flu tends to only in the main appear in the winter months this thing seems to like all seasons of the year so annual jabs may not be enough?

Every day new cases increase, possibly 48k and over?
Then the incorrect lab results of 45k persons allegedly ?
Do you get the feeling things are a little astray ?
What is going on!

I do wonder what the pattern will be going forward.
It may be that immunity carries over, fades in the summer and boosters are then needed in early autumn

But what if mutating changes are not annual but monthly senario's?
Lets hope the really "switched on sharp boffins ",are really on its head !

It would seem to be far more sensible to not let it "rip" until virtually all of the population were vaccinated maybe with the exception of the very young, otherwise it is just going to keep going around in circles slowly mutating into stronger strains, better to vaccinate first isn't that what most of the rest of the world are trying to do?

Seems the govt ( and most of the plebs tbf ) have got bored with the Covid thing, and are just getting on with it with most now double jabbed and hopefully less likely to get really ill.

I have colleagues going off on holidays to Spain/Italy etc and am surprised the host countries are letting the Brits in with our current levels of infection. But there.

If the dear old NHS looks to be getting overwhelmed again if the virus mutates then a re think may be required. Would also think the booster programme needs to accelerate if the original jabs are reducing in effectiveness.

Everybody that wants vaccinated should be by now. It doesn't stop spread, I would be surprised if majority of cases aren't in vaccinated folk, majority of covid deaths last month were in vaccinated. As long as hospitals can cope and do their best is all we can do.
That was the message all along remember, flatten the curve, protect the nhs, a vaccine may take years, herd immunity while protecting the vulnerable.
Nothing has changed except there is less vulnerable people thanks to the vaccine.
