Pretty good if you are one of the lucky ones, the old Spanish flu was a bit expensive people wise still as you say all in a good cause! Of course you are assuming this little beut came from some old bat falling out with a pangolin rather than some old prat in a white coat just being careless.
Hardly the same era is it. The death rate is small in reality, comparing it to spanish flu is pointless, health care is far better now reducing deaths.
Of course each death is personal to a family and I'm not dismissive of that but how many will die due to delayed treatment for other illnesses.
Unless we get a miracle cure there is in my view simply no other option but to let covid slowly move through the population, and I notice for all your criticism of the current policy you dont suggest a viable alternative

Maybe a trip to Germany for Bozo to get a few tips might help, just wonder as we have so many cases floating around what the plan is if the next variant is immune to the current vaccine, after all the more cases there are floating around the more chance it will alter it’s make up as it did in India before.
Deaths have now reached 5 million or maybe far more as people keep saying those foreigners don’t own up to the real number & the world is only just warming up to this thing.

But guess which country has hospitals struggling to cope & dire warnings of whats ahead, far too much money has been wasted on pointless tests after all the damage was done!

The hospitals are always struggling, my mum was a nurse for over 40 years, she says it's never been much different. Poor management through the creation of far too many managerial positions is what's crippling the NHS, not covid. We're one of the only countries where you can't actually see a doctor if your ill, even though nearly all health are is free.

So what if UK tests and publishes the data? Surely, the population is entitled to know the facts.
Numbers issued daily in ROI and carried by most media outlets. Good. We are entitled to know the facts.
Surely you realise that only the UK reports the facts, everywhere else is just a wasteland keeping everyone in the dark, with the UK leading the world in the sunny uplands, well at least that's the impression I get when reading this forum.

If only someone had thought to tell the rest of the world this gem, how lucky we are to have such clever scientific advice otherwise we could have been in real trouble!
The yanks are almost back to normal aren't they? I watch a lot of NFL, stadiums are jam packed but there hasn't been the big spike in cases that was predicted?
Perhaps most folk are vaccinated or have had it?

Look at the numbers of tests done per million by country, it's no wonder we have a lot of cases.

Given the vaccine doesn't stop positive test results, there will be presumably be a natural circulating prevalence level?
This will fluctuate with the seasons and waning /strengthening immunity levels?
Given a large number of people always die dec-feb of respiratory viruses, this likely to continue.
some will die with covid, some will die of covid instead of something else.
The real question imo is what do we do about it....

I agree but I think the question us actually what CAN we do, imvho nothing really, eventually it will be just like other Corona viruses, I think we need to use our experience of covid to find ways of stopping the next one from causing the issues this has.
I'm sure governments have a good idea whether it was man made or just jumped species that will determine the long term response.

So JRM et al on the govt benches are getting flak again about not wearing masks in the Commons.
'We're among friends' was his reply. A poor example say others.

Is it worth discussing?
I'll get my mas, ahem, coat...

It seems a bit left wing to wear a mask , same in the US , maybe they should just grow up .

By all accounts testing in Germany is extremely low and we test between four and five times more people per million than they do. Is it any wonder that the figures are vastly different?
