Cattle on cleared rainforest.

I read recently about some regulation that meant cattle had to be used before soya was planted, or was it the other way round? there was a name for it but can't remember. Anybody know what the rules are and the name of the regulation?

I think it's as simple as they can't clear ground for cropping. If it's been grazed by cattle for 2 years , then it can be cultivated.
After clearing the trees , they seed grass by aircraft. 8 weeks it's a foot high and the cows go on.
That sounds logical, there must be some massive roots from those trees.

77% of Soy is used in animal feed
Bulk, not value.
America uses high value Soy oil to cook with and soy is used as protein in vegetarian meals. If it was not used and stopped in cattle food it would still be grown and used for human consumption.
Another reason humans suffered Tofu Disease is the cleared jungle soil is high in Aluminium, it takes 2 years to increase the PH for cropping. Japan used to have a big problem as they eat so much Tofu.

Appreciate we are all back-slapping and no one wants a hard truth but 77% of the total acerage is used in livestock feed. You can't escape that with weasel words around value
Yes but 90% of that is fed to pigs and poultry, not cattle as is made out in the media, and I would guess that the majority of what is fed to cattle will go to dairy cows not beef cattle (could be corrected on that though).

I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact the majority of our pig and poultry is tied up in integrated production systems owned by multinational companies with political clout compared to the more fragmented ruminant industry?🤔

The media of all types and sources , watch their arses, continually, advertising drives thrm and they need these corporations to keep them going.
Then there are the freebies, come to a conference on climate change/ health/ environment/ you name it , write the right articles, you will be invited along with friend/ family / floozy to an exotic location all expenses paid.
Do not worry there is nothing corrupt here, there is no pressure at all to quote the company line, the company name , but possibly you would like another trip to the Carribbean?

If I remember correctly it's called Bolsonaro's law and row crops cannot be grown on deforested land for at least 2 years.
