Think you get my drift, once it's on farm and paid for there's feck all you can do about it,clear enough!
Is it ok/legal to cancel orders whether it’s delivered or not…….I think not. If that’s the case fert merchants will be drawing lines through the contracts for product bought at lower than todays price. I’m afraid an order is an order.

Love it how the fert boys on here continue to talk the prices up,I think most that have panicked will have bought by now(myself included)but the ones with big balls will sit it out,I do think and hope that they are right, don't see much more new fert sales until prices ease,as for shortages, the fert boys would have us believe it's scarce but I would rather it came from an independent source.
To be fair to the fert trade people on here, they were highlighting the tightening supply/rising price situation months ago.
I’d consider them as a good a source of accurate information as anyone.

Can’t see many around here paying 600+ for it to grow grass. You’d be far better spending the money renting extra acres and spreading slurry.
But how much will grass keep be next year?
Presumably you won’t have any more slurry and therefore nutrients within the slurry next year than last, getting more out of muck is easier said than done.

This thread is nicely split. Those who’ve bought early and are enjoying it unfold in the short term, those who’ve bought recently and dread the thought of it dropping soon and those that haven’t ordered and have totally missed the boat for the time being and are checking this everyday to see if anyone’s found a bargain. I’m the latter

Often says on bills, goods remain the property of the seller until paid for in full
Think it will also say that they will take you to court for any moneys owed.

as an industry we are expected to honour contracts regardless of price fluctuations.

The talk of cancelling orders boils my blood. An agreement is exactly what it’s says on the tin.
If the boot was on the other foot and the fert merchants starting cancelling cheaper orders their would be uproar.

Yes extra acres would be hard to get, the other option I suppose would be to buy more silage now I see folk selling round bales for £15 which is below cost of production even with fert at last years prices. Mostly livestock around here so there is always an abundance of slurry and manure you can get as much as you want if you go get it.

who?
Happening on cake orders too.
if you mean forfarmers, that was embarrassing for them and the fall out will be huge.

no fertiliser suppliers then? We must be the only part of the ag industry that honours contracts.

Wasn't actually thinking of them but cake invoices coming for a different price to that agreed, have heard its happening quite a bit.
Edit to say, one guy said a quick phone call got the price put right.
