Landrover chassis

Had my td5 on lift other day, having steering looked at. When down and talking to man, I said well would not want to be with out ot and find it comfortable to drive, he said but you are the correct build for it, not over 6ft or 15 clem so you slide into the seat others have to have window open just to turn corner. He also said they would do new chassis fitted for £6000, but that was basic change.
Dear at 6k for a basic change.

My thoughts to, but that was what man said. Don't think he really likes doing them, but will for a price. I used to blast 2 nd hand chassis for man who did chassis swaps. If they were good enough would get galvanised, think new chassis were £1200 at time. He had jig set up to lift whole body off then roll old out, and roll new in. Not just that easy every time though.

But it’s not my money so you landrover lovers carry on, the door catches will still fail, the turbo boost pipes will still split, the seats will still rip where you have to slide onto them, the drive shafts will still push out and need replaced, the ride will still be terrible and the view out the left hand side at junctions will still be dangerous, the views out the painfully small windscreen will still be terrible and wiped with the worst wipers ever known, you’ll still rip your trousers on the door catch but hey it’s a landrover so it’s all fine

I've had 3 replacement chassis over the years 1st was a Marsland chassis for an S2a 88 from Paddocks then a Richards chassis for a Defender 90 and my last one a Richards chassis again but for another S2a 88 but at the time Marsland chassis were hard to get so had no choice but to go for Richards chassis for the last two chassis but i really wanted Marsland so for me its Marsland all the way 😀

Oh Bob do not be to honest and harsh up on one of the best English inventions ever. They are not just the small windscreens but perfectly formed shaped and sized observation glasses to see good bad ugly and odd other thing through, windscreen wipers, now that is hurt full size is not everything, they well adequate. Left hand veiw not the best, carry her indoors with you as Co pilot, she will love the shake rattle and roll of the experience and best of all you probably not be able to hear her ongoing twittering about todays matters.
They are not a vehicle for every one but a large meccarno set that has seized rusted slightly over priced parts. That will still plod to the finish line gracefully. We'll I live in hope and smile every time I get in mine, and catch jeans on seat handle, have managed once to attach myself to this and been slightly stuck. Dogs do laugh with you, possible.

Leak from every corner, not at all only 3 corners at present. Kids look bemused as we set off after rain and several litres of water come in passenger top corner. Quickly trying to move to avoid and curious as to wtf.
They are not for every one and know as good as they are in my opinion, a touch dated. But not sure any other vehicle could match its versatility.

Done a few (7) over the last few years, some marsland others Richards and they are much the same, I feel I won't need to tell you this but when you have it all to bits put a polybush kit on it and replace the clutch and timing belt if it has one, changed a chassis in 3 days once, easy if you have access to a telehandler
They seem to be connected , are you sure they are not the same chassis ?

We put a galv chassis on our 90 around this time last year, were priced around 4k to include genuine GKN galv chassis. Total bill inc VAT came to just shy of 8k in the end, lots of extras and things that really needed replacing once it was in bits but was well worth it. Wouldn't buy much of a truck for what we spent even with a scrap value 90 as some form of part ex?!

Undo the wings and the associated bolts holding the body to the chassis, ones in the floor can be worst and behind the seats then lift the tub bulkhead etc in one, thread the wiring loom down the chassis before you sit the body back on,it’s easier than when the bodies on.
Rusted up captive bolts are the biggest pain, start spraying wd40 on them now.

Following this with interest as suspect it will be needed soon for my 2002 110, but then wondered about trading up for a newer one and what the difference would be in £ terms. Have seen one I like, but not sure how the value ties up.

Any recent values for a rough-ish type TD5 panel van ?
