That was impressive at Lamma 2020.

"And have continued to swap out other brands for more Mccormicks"
I can’t think of anyone near us that has one McCormick!
I hope they are good and they get going, competition is good in a market, but it’s hard to get a foot hold
Similar to Kubota, there was lots of interest but we are yet to see them become as popular as the regular brands

A good mate of mine has taken delivery of a circa 220hp machine. Sadly it’s had a few issues in the first 12 months mostly transmission/hydraulic. Which bus a shame for both him and McCormick. Dealer has been very good.

When you say that once someone has bought one they usually stick with them, a large part of that could be the resale value, and the only decent deal where the depreciation isn’t huge is to swap for another McCormick?
Mate works on a farm where the boss bought a brand new Massey combine, which as you would expect was horrifically unreliable; rarely doing a whole day without something going wrong. Boss priced up a lexion but the part ex was so poor he’s basically stuck with just buying massey now and keeping them under warranty. Ironically they also demo’d a McCormick tractor 😂 In response to the OP unless they’re considerably cheaper than the main brands (like 60% the price) I can’t imagine any inroads being made. If they’re within spitting distance price wise of a jd or a fendt; or even a massey or cnh…you’d want to have a seriously good sweetener to go for the McCormick imo.

Yes it's a tough job but life would be boring without a challenge! Market share is still tiny but the only way to improve that is to keep banging the drum and trying. We sold much higher numbers of the previous brand we sold but we also saw a far higher rate of issues in the latter years. (No I'm not going to brand bash and say what that was but it was mainstream).

That's a shame. I'm not going to pretend they're perfect! Glad to hear the local dealer is sorting him out 👍

I refer back to my earlier comment about if they were too much cheaper! But yes until they get more established they do need to stay very competitive to keep increasing market share.

We used to have a Landini legend 120,cheap and basic.

Issues are reputations are built from tractors working over the last 20 years.

If you are in for the long haul then the tractors you build today have to be designed correctly, have quality components and be easy to repair.

It still sticks in my mind where there were cheap either nylon bushes or o rings which were manufactured incorrectly and gave massive issues with some McCormick models.

One days production of one bad batch of components can destroy a reputation and put customers off for 20 years.

Valtra had a circlip issue recently and had to recall quite a few tractors with major surgery on the gearbox.

Its the long game.

As seen by the replies so far its gonna be hard to gain alot of market share. I wish u all the best and would like to see mccorrmick/landini doin well as im a sucker for an underdog story and it keeps the bigger boys sharp if others are bitein at thier heels. Plus what iv seen of them thered be dang all wrong with them 7 series tractors and tbh in the metallic colours they look the part

In these times of soil protection maybe getting into the tracklayer niche might be worthwhile? Something basic ish on tracks and take on challenger which seem to have lost their way with reliability with the current models(?) i don’t know what engines you use but if they’re well known and you put a ZF or similar gearbox behind it….

Dont take this as criticism as i appreciate u comin on here stickin ur head above the radar where u can often get shot at, but why is there not more product promotion backed by headquaters. If mccorrmick is wantin more sales why is there not more demos bein put out, more dealer open nights as farmers love free tea and a catch up, more facebook competitions where u can win hats, bodywarmers and factory tours etc etc, more deals being available like stockman tractor with free loader upgrade or large tractor with free gps, attractive finance and hire packages etc etc and finally more local farmers newspaper adverts. They have invested big bucks in product development and have imho thier best tractors to date but the dealers need help to get them on the ground

The latest ones look rather good, The lads at Grassmen had one recently and lent it out to quite a few farms, all gave positive responses. There were a pair of black 7624 (240hp) working on the maize harvest locally, seemed to be going well and quite a compact size too when sat next to a JD 6215R.
