New Farming Investment Fund launched today

Just had a very brief look through the items and costs and i think your a little behind the times with what things cost now! When the last grants were on manufacturers pushed there prices up and along with rise in steel prices and other costs some items wont even be 20% aided.
We have had the prices independently validated, and also checked back on what we paid back last time, so we think they are broadly right (or as right as we can get them), but let me know when you've reviewed more closely, I'm keen to hear feedback.

Water Management grant

would underground irrigation system come into if for a farmer who we rent land from but use our water count? we have the water available but the fields are too far away at present

Improving Farm Productivity grant

Would a grain store that was used to store grain from smaller farms we do work for so they didnt have to sell at harvest qualify??

On underground irrigation: I wouldn't rule it out, but we'd need to talk about the details - I'd recommend you get in touch directly with RPA who will be able to help with that

The next 'improving farm productivity' round is expected to focus on automation and robotics, so it wouldn't cover grain stores. However we're also planning an 'adding value' round where this would likely be covered - further details will come on that as soon as they're ready. I'll share here when we publish that info too.

Are the grants for direct drills limited to either a 3m or 6m machine or can they be used for, say, an 8m drill?
It does say minimum width so should be fine; but it does raise the point that 4m stuff which I would say is as, if not more popular than 3m, only qualifies for a 3m grant despite being a big jump in cost because of the folding mechanism.

You should find all you need from this page Paul: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/farming-investment-fund
Janet I see you’ve got a sward lifter for grassland but no corresponding low disturbance subsoiler (basically the same thing) for arable which are becoming increasingly popular as people are recognising soil health; I’ve been quoted 12-16000 for a 3m arable unit; will there be anything in further rounds to cover this or do you envisage the sward lifter money to be used for both arable and grassland types? Thanks

Agreed.

But like the previous Countryside grants, some judicious researching will enable the odd good (and useful) purchase. ;) Read the rules carefully, and if in doubt ask first.

What about fert spreaders, were they not funded in previous rounds? I see we can get £1850 on FETF50 but my spreder cannot be upgraded I would need a complete new machine.

Hi Janet. For eligibility we don’t claim subsidy but are farming and will be moving next year and increasing in size and moving from a part time business to full time. Are we eligible for the scheme?
