Dont need to build your own spreadsheet theres 1 on the adhb websiteBuild your own spreadsheet, put costs in, use standard figures for ME, DM and protein and play about until you have a ration that is cheap and hits your targets. Not difficult.
Cattle do better, easier to feed different by products, worth it for us.Just curious what sort of cost people put to running a diet feeder with depreciation/fuel etc. are the savings in being able to feed more byproducts? Do cattle do much better? Sorry for going off topic
For our finishing cattle they are on red clover silage, grass silage and barley and are flying this year. Really pleased with how they are going.Starting to use our diet feeder a bit more, just want to know what people are putting in.
Haven access to Silage, Straw, Hay ,barley, brewers grain and spuds.
How many kilos a head of barley can you get away with feeding in a tmr mix?For our finishing cattle they are on red clover silage, grass silage and barley and are flying this year. Really pleased with how they are going.
Have you had your silage analysed? Will pay to get it done then you will know what to feed with it.
As much as you want. Ours are only on 3.5/ head/ day at the momentHow many kilos a head of barley can you get away with feeding in a tmr mix?
That's good, what dlwg do you get with that and what age are they ready for finishing? As much as you want. Ours are only on 3.5/ head/ day at the moment
Yeah it will be good for that. Does depend on price of it if it’s good value vs barley.Cattle sound similar to you. At the moment they are having silage (crap analysis), straw and brewers grains fed tmr. I'm looking to put some cover on them and thought the starch in maize would be good?
