Wool...what will you do with yours...

What if the productivity compromises you make from having a shedding ewe more than outweigh your costs & annual wool board ‘donations’?

I appreciate it’s an unpopular view amongst the disciples, but ‘if’ it means that you have fewer, poorer lambs to sell, and extra fencing costs, then does there come a point where wool is is a cost worth bearing, even at today’s prices?
Still far from decided here.
Are they that much less productive though? Especially if put to a terminal sire

…and why would you be seeing an increase in fencing costs??

Mine certainly have been, falling down heavily on maternal ability and resultant lamb survival.

I understand others have better results, but I was bloody glad I didn’t have a whole flock of them last April!
Big clear out at the end of lambing at least means that the smaller nucleus remaining have (mostly) reared lambs, so hopefully better next year….???

You probably wouldn’t if everything was kept in behind electric all year?

Otherwise, they seem almost as good at sniffing out small gaps as Welshies do. I’ve not had to put top wires on netting fences for years, but have put more up now.

When I was given my next years sheets this Summer, I was surprised to be given a number of special string lengths for fastening the sheets instead of the traditional wooden skewers.
How do you go about using these?
Do you have to make a special darning needle?
Is it one length per sheet or multiple ones?
Thanks.
Thanks everyone. I think I've got the idea now.

Obviously wool isn’t was worthless as we all thought. Don’t think I will be buying 3 for my dogs.
