my farm ( on the floodplain ) and the lower part of Gunnedah ( next to the Namoi River ) is around 270 metres. Where I live, only 7 km from the centre of town, is about 370 m, so I think I’ll be ok

I will add, that we are about 400 km inland from the east coast ( big hills to cross going that way, so our water flows further inland first ), but our river systems ultimately drain into the Darling then Murray River systems, which drain into the ocean in South Australia, maybe 1500 km away. 300 m isn’t very high when the drainage to sea level is that far away

Harvest update from very southern NSW (perspective of a dairy farmer) is that the trucks are moving so I'm assuming that harvesting canola has resumed before the next shower

I saw a couple of headers doing windrowed Canola today.Harvest update from very southern NSW (perspective of a dairy farmer) is that the trucks are moving so I'm assuming that harvesting canola has resumed before the next shower
We took a sample and it’s just over at 8.2% so we will probably be harvesting tomorrow until the rain on Tuesday.
The 75 mm plus rain forecast for this week pretty much follows the wheat growing are from Qld through NSW and into Northetn Victoria. Not much except western Victoria southern SA and WA are missing it.
I think most wheat around here is still green enough to not be damaged this week.

The gravel road from Curlewis out to my farm.
In the first pic you can make out a white guide post on either side of the road, in the distance. The gravel is built up between say .5 & 1m above the natural surface, so need to stay in the centre & not drop off the edge

Cropping paddocks on the side of the road. There is dryland cotton under there somewhere. Look at the waves in the last pic & the raft of wheat stubble in the foreground, caught up by the gravel road
