Nroso heavy handed email

I am at the end of my 3 year cycle for Nroso. What with one thing and another I have not managed to do as many training events as usual and ended up with 29 points. Saw this on my statement and coincidentally my local NIAB conference was last week so I popped along and signed the BASIS and Nroso paperwork. I have no doubt that my attendance is recorded and the paperwork is on its way to Nroso. However yesterday I received an email from them saying that I was suspended and if I haven't achieved the points by the end of the first week in January I would not be able to re-join the scheme for 12 months.

I confess I had a bit of a paddy on the phone, I am not the biggest (or smallest) farm but I am the only one here who has all the licences to spray, actually too many as I am BASIS qualified. If I was to be chucked out I could not market my crops or even more critically for me feed it to my Moos. I know a contractor could be brought in but that is not the point. It is punishment that by a very long way is greater than the crime involved and as far as I can see just a way to make sure people pay money and go to the Nroso sponsored training courses. I understand why they feel we need to do CPD but it should be managed fairly and perhaps more independently. I could actually have COVID at the moment and be unable to get any points, would they show any compassion? After my call yesterday I doubt it.

With all the issues around Red Tractor and feeling particularly grumpy about the email I thought I would post this, what does the TFF massive think?

They're shysters too in the same camp as RT and NSF. Had run in with them when one of the courses I attended for some reason wasnt logged on their system, even the course organiser phoning them wouldnt convince them I had attended. Fortunately I had kept all my three certificates so sent them pictures of them and they backed down.
It is the one thing of many that irks me about some of these organisations is that they have started to treat you almost like a criminal because you have broken some small poxy rule, Found NSF and NROSO to be particularly bad in this respect and like you being spoken to in such a manner doesnt bring out the best in me

I dont agree with their attitude however look at it from another point of view. This is a professional qualification. You have said its vital to your business in order for you to feed your cattle. So you shouldnt have let it slip. Its the same for any profession that has to have professional qualifications to continue to trade. (solicitor, plumber, electrican, lorry driver etc...)
Again , I dont agree with how they are treating you just putting the other side across as we constantly tell the public we are a professional industry.
Dont shoot the messenger, just playing devils advocat.
Edit, if they dont play the heavy handed approach then they sort of undermine the importance of their own scheme.

If you are not FA, fork them.
I submitted evidence of my stuff two weeks ago and it has not logged yet, so I've had the same naughty boy e-mail, which as it happens, is "computer generated"..... But they do get to choose the self important wording that it contains.
Are there any roadshow classroom events between now and Jan? Asking for a friend obviously.

You’d be happy would you with an organisation that closes your shop on a bureaucratic technically that has no impact on the quality or safety of your product without even a phone call to ask if there are any mitigating circumstances? Can you even imagine the stress and penalties caused by defaulted forward sales of grain etc all because you have not recorded some piffling piece of information that means Jack sh!t in reality but on which they (NRoSO, RT etc) have built an empire of overpaid nit picking clipboard wielding little Hitlers.

90% of the meetings were over 3 hours drive each way from me so I never bothered. I drove 7 hours 1 day for 3 measly points.
I know some people who worked it so that 2 of them on the farm never renewed the same year, get kicked off for a year and then rejoin. Got any children or neighbours with PA1/2?

Like i said, I DON T AGREE. I'm merely creating debate, After all this is a discussion forum. I also said. They need to be very harsh to justfy the merit of their own scheme. If they appear soft then their own scheme lacks the credit they think it has.

I was in a similar position to you, got an email while on holiday to say my membership was up in a month and I had only 10 CPD points carry over. I'm BASIS too and have never had to collect NRoSO points before, so I emailed them my BASIS details. Two weeks went by with no reply, I was worried as I am a one man band, my membership runs out on the 4th of Dec and I have a NSF inspection on the 7th. I rang the office earlier this week and spoke to a very pleasant and efficient lady, who added my CPD, all solved.

I've decided to collect my NRoSO CPD in future and remove any risk, being forced to use a contractor would be a disaster for me.

I'm wondering, since I do my own agronomy, can I claim NRoSO CPD points for having a meeting with myself?
