The anemometer at Aberporth blew down, so there was no wind....
wind speed.jpg

The met one at Aberporth registered 81mph. A couple of trees down but lots of branches everywhere, and the roads are a mess.
That skittering noise at 5 this morning turned out to be a downpipe having a dance across the yard. Why do noises sound so much worse in the dark?

With the draughty doors it’s the last thing we need. We even have the windows open a chink to regulate the air pressure in the room and therefore the flue.
Works a treat, but kind of negates having the woodburner lit!!
We have given up with it today, lighting the open lounge fire instead.
all the chimney sweeps talk about getting enough draw on the chimney pot, and when I ask what type of cowl I can get to reduce the draw they look a bit nonplussed ! The house is 825' up, so we are fairly windy here!

Electric still on here, but I think I’ll leave the tree that’s sitting on the wire and just hope the new pole is strong enough to keep it up.

Road beneath it is a busy footpath, but nobody seems to concerned…View attachment 999954

Update on this: contractor came out this afternoon, on his own, with only a handsaw as his chainsaw was in the garage being repaired. He said it took a while, but he cut through the trunk, which then suddenly sprang up. The new pole on the left of the photo sprung back vertical as the weight went off the wire.

A good job his H&S supervisor wasn’t there to watch/slow things down perhaps.🤐

Mains off 11pm and horrendous crashes to be heard all night. Depending on the turbine now, so went at 4am to clear the filters, full of flying bent. Got out the door and Roy was standing there. Went to look and his kennel is matchwood with 2 trees through it. Other kennel ok. Loads of debris on the roads and some other trees down. Going to venture out pm to get shopping. Will take the saw with me in case there are any obstructions. Still no mains. SP says it should be back by 8pm.
Update on this, SP says it should be back 8pm Sunday so I got it wrong!

Parents had trouble with one of their stoves and down draught. One of these did the trick.
