all the chimney sweeps talk about getting enough draw on the chimney pot, and when I ask what type of cowl I can get to reduce the draw they look a bit nonplussed ! The house is 825' up, so we are fairly windy here!
We had a few companies and installers quote to fit a log burner. Only one commented that said we were a bit exposed and will need a certain so and so cowl and can only fit stoves that will completely shut down not ones that only restrict the air. Went with them and have been so glad everytime it’s rough and the stove is roasting hot and nearly shut right down.

Was wild here , fortunately we had power right through but we were about some of the only ones , a lot of villages and pretty much whole of deeside and donside has been with out power or phone signal since 5/6 on Friday night, some places getting power back now but SSE recon it could be 6 tonight (Sunday ) or even into Monday before some places get power back. There's some mess to tidy up, had a tour about yesterday afternoon taking some hot water etc to mum and there's acre after acre of timber down round here, whole stands as good as flat. Will try and get some pictures if I can.

Heard of one guy who was killed when a tree came down on his pick up.

Hell of a mess around here, 100s if not 1000s of trees down, power off for 19hrs, phone and internet still dropping in n out, roads closed all over and quite a lot of buildings damage, gust of 105mph recorded at wooler but steady 80s most of the time 😯 no injuries as far as I know locally, 35mm of rain in the gauge yesterday morning but how much didn’t hit the gauge by blowing past or out 🤷🏻‍♂️
