It's strange how little is on the News. The BBC has been deliberately shifted North so as to be more inclusive, so what is stopping updates?
I saw the item about the care home that doesn't have a standby generator, and some advertising for the highest pub in England, but not much else.
you can take the BBC out of London (metropolitan bias), but you can't take London out of the BBC!

Because even though 25,000 families have gone without power for 5 days (and counting) it's far more important that the country be brow beaten about how racist Yorkshire county cricket club are.
Even if some things dont fit the BBC narrative >>> like Azeem Rafiq's antisemitic remarks on Twitter

There's been an item on every bulletin I've heard up to and including this morning about those still without power. Not sure what more coverage anyone expects?

Feel for those of you still affected though.

there was someone digging sheep out the snow on ITV news last night.
when we had the electric out for a week back when we had the hurricane I didn't see anything on the news about it in all that time :giggle:

Hell. That’s bad. And sad.

I presume they are plantation softwoods (tiny screen)

Are there many native, natural hardwoods in the area and have they been flattened too?

Apologies, I’ve not spent much time in Northumberland, something I aim to change. 👍

Been off the grid since Saturday early doors thanks to the transformer in the yard going over and leaning against the grain store thankfully somehow it never went through the tin! Both commercial and domestic power out including the two houses along the road until they manage to get another transformer sorted. So meanwhile Northern power had run out tow behind gennys for each house on saturday night and have been running on them since least I can’t complain at them for once :sneaky:

Noticed a number of old curved roof haysheds seem to have had a hammering . Roller shutter doors facing the wind seems another victim.

Lots of rotten ash snaped off. Individual trees tipped over. Had to cut up a lovely sound oak to get the road open. Then acres of pine plantations wrecked as in the above pic.

1st time I can remember a red weather warning for this area, now we know what it means :(. Must be similar in strength to the Michael Fish storm that went along the southern counties in 1987

Makes my blood boil when alot of the trees that have fallen blocking roads and snapped power lines etc should have been felled and cropped way before any storm . Short sighted councils etc just store up problems rather than be proactive . It will be the same with rivers , one day all the trees that are blocking them will destroy a bridge and flood a town before the EA realise perhaps they should of removed them
