There was an auctioneer at Carlisle 30 or so years ago could sell 200 per hour in days they got 1500 fat cattle a week

Longtown fat sheep ring buzzing today.Alot of lambs in and plenty buyers.Seemed a good trade. Carlisle H @ H directors should have a look in to see how a fat sheep ring should look like.I saw some jersey bulls in Drayton the other week, god they were crap. £35-£40 each!I wouldn’t have given you the price of a cartridge for them! It was a farmer buying them so god knows what the idea is? Killing buyers were bidding £10-20

Fair point but everything being nailed down deadweight isn’t too great either. I think we might have seen a slight turn back to markets for fat cattle last two three years

. It's often the buyers that slow a market down . Most auctioneers know what the livestock is worth as soon as it comes in the ring . The 2 selling in Hfd are never very far wrong .Skintagain

Some auctioneers aren’t strong enough for the buyers. A strong auctioneer who knows their beans with some tempo keeps the job rattling on.Just pointing out a fact .
Nothing better than selling when you have a good auctioneer. Chris Voyce at Cirencester can’t half rattle through sheep, doesn’t let the buyers have time to think about it and causes a buying frenzy because people done want to miss out.

I hear it’s a bit different now but it’s easy to rattle through them when your only knocking down to one buyer.

Has anyone any market reports from Darlington,Longtown yesterday? I see Thirsk averaged 307p although not many in. Must have been some trade.
