All things Dairy

Sometimes you have to question your system choice and the financial viability or certain decisions
After 282 days at grass and a grazing season that I am scoring an 8.5/10, we finally housed full time on Friday
To then see after only 24 hours fully housed a 1 litre rise is absolutely gutting

The previous 282 days were still more enjoyable and profitable though. Mine have been in one night and the straw blower dropped it's bed chains on the floor this morning.

Have spent 282 days scraping up by hand
Only 3 days scraping up with a tractor and I'm fed up already, and I even have auto scrapers in cubicle passages

The only good thing about December is that I start to bring heifers over to the cows as they get closer to calving. Here are a Nymoen x Skyhigh Patrol and an Oblique Focus (Ayrshire)

Don't you just love it when the scraper tractor stops working again 🙄
Only saving grace today was I had finished scraping and was on the way to wash it off so atleast no hand scraping!

Found our what's wrong with it as well though, about 4-6 months ago my then work chap filled it up with diesel and lost the cap, didn't tell me and decided to stuff a load of used bale plastic in the hole 👍 by the time I got to use it and took the plastic out a nice chunk of mud and part of the plastic had been sucked in which is now causing fuel blockages. 😍

Sell the classic, buy a modern skid steer.
