Landrover chassis

I don’t know mines 04 and has been wax oiled but rear cross member is knackered .
Mine is a funny one. Was high mileage when I bought it at ten years old, but not done many in my ownership (less than 3k/yr) and not really that hard worked. I reckon it never saw much mud or salt until I had it, so it's quite a young 19.

The salt is the problem ! I always wish they just wouldn’t bother with it if I’m honest .

Yep. I should probably clarify the 'needing new chassis soon' bit though - I've not had any MOT advisories, so I'm basing that purely on age (2002). I'd guess there would be at least five more years before it needed done.
Our old 99 td5 ,
had to do bit welding for last mot , went through this one ok ,
will have to have a gear box soon as when towing smells warm by 20 mile ,yesit has oil in it 👍
dont think its done bad ,engine untouched , 287000 mile
will get a chassis when cannot weld any thing up ,old girl just keeps going ,

Quite tempted by flipping my TD5 for a younger Puma - any thoughts if they're better/ worse? It wouldn't be an econimically sensible decision, but might make my life a bit more comfortable.

Apologies for butting in. We have a 15 2.2 puma ,far nicer to drive than a td5 with abs and 6 speed. Engine wise ,job to beat the 15p td5. Just bought an mint 03 truck cab with 57000 miles plan was to keep the milage off the puma .

Keep the td5 , but if your selling it send it down here ,
we have a farmer / landrover garage next door , yours wants rechassis ,and a 🙄🙄td5 tune up ,
and he alters seat base ,and puts a smaller steering wheel on for the larger farmer drivers ,
two puma here ,and a highly tuned bowler spec ,
tuned td5 , much better 🤫
would like to put 335 bmw engine ,or old 300 series merc engine with mechanical pump in the old series 3 ,turboed up can get 300 ponys out of them

Keep or sell :ROFLMAO:

I'm a shortarse and fit fine into mine, although Mrs HM is taller and doesn't find it comfortable. It's also poverty spec and I'm getting too old for that - quite like the look of XS spec if it can be made affordable. Engine pulls like a train too, which makes me nervous to replace - maybe I should run a pair :ROFLMAO:.

Got a 300tdi 90 with rather a lot of galvanic corrosion in the body, which I consider to be a big problem for restoration. Would love to upgrade to a td5, but they are strong money. Wouldn’t be worried about mileage, think it is essentially unlimited, even an engine/gearbox rebuild is reasonable money.

The td5 seems to have gained popularity lately , a little remap makes them very nice !

Any recommendations for people who will do a chassis and possibly bulkhead swap in scotland?

Preferably Aberdeenshire or closer to there the better. We have tried a few places locally but no capacity currently.

110 hardtop if that makes any difference.
