Insurance Renewal

My annual whole farm insurance is up for renewal and I have been quoted a figure 25% higher this year than last. There have been a few minor additions to the vehicle fleet but nothing to big. What are other farmers finding regarding their renewal premiums (valuations of crop stock tractors etc about the same as last year). TIA

Who is that with?

Mine is due soon and it’s the annual game of hunting around which I bloody hate as it’s a complicated policy.

Farm
machinery
Vehicles
Arable
Livestock
Caravan site
Caravan storage
Property rentals
Etc

Mine was up but only a tiny bit.
Only thing that put it up up was bigger than normal the index linking figures put on buildings.

Be interesting then as currently NFU but zero loyalty to them and been Cornish mutual abs towergate in recent years.

Also get fed up with mutual rep trying to get me to join NFU..🙄

The number of threads on here where farmers have caught NFU Mutual gauging loyal customers is growing all the time. They keep doing it, so they don't seem to care, maybe because of all the TV adverts to get household customers.

Get a comparison quote from Acres, Farmers and Mercantile or one of the others.

I have been with NFU for years but decided to look around as the rental building insurance seemed a bit steep this time around. I tried F&M following the mentions on here but they seem to have merged with Lycetts as of Jan 1st. They seemed helpful but advised I stay with NFU this year so they could come and have a look around and give a proper quote for the cover we need.

The whole Insurance market has seen premium increases of probably 6-9% on good risks over the last year. There are still major differences in price between different Insurers so well worth the hassle of getting a quote.
The Combine mentioned by Somerset Farmer should be costing around £300 for a £30k machine on comprehensive cover.
Insurance values need reviewing thoroughly at the moment because of increasing crop, livestock and fertiliser prices plus the increasing re-build costs on houses and farm buildings. If you do not alter these you could be a long way out of pocket in the event of a claim. Any Farm Insurance Advisor doing there job properly should be raising this with you.

Just had my quote through from NFU and it has risen by £1200/yr this is with zero claims in the last 10+ years.
I am meeting with the man on Thurs, did explain my distain for their support of the NFU and its support for RT, he replied he has had a "lot of pushback" over this topic.
I also explained that I will be jumping ship once I get some more quotes in (although have left it a little late) so will see what he says Thurs but suspect will renew for Jan/Feb then leave. There are no termination charges so should be fine.
