Dipping Should be compulsory again !

That will never happen. No govt will make it compulsory to use a known nerve agent like OP again as they’d be opening themselves up to litigation from the ‘no win no fee’ brigade.

It would certainly reduce scab prevalence, but even when it was compulsory for a long time, there were enough rogues that it never got eradicated.:(

Suffolk cross lambs wouldn’t this time of year. Probably kill out at 22kg unless they are 4h/5’s.
The 49.5 and 48.5 kilo ones would be too heavy for deadweight thou surely and get cut hard??
The way lambs are killing this year they’d of done 45% which would of been 22.27kgs ish so at £6 a kilo £132 lambs

Local market Christmas show
I’m glad it was only 20 lambs as I say rest will all go DW
Last week heavy lambs like that would have made more liveweight than deadweight but it just shows how 10 mins on the TV by Boris can alter things overnight!

Impossible to know what is right or wrong to do with lambs/ cattle with the way things can currently change overnight !

Exactly unfortunately we’re commited to feeding lambs so when they’re fit they’re fit and have to go out the door
And as I said local Christmas show so nice to support them,
I do feel sorry for boris, he can’t win and Covid for sure is a bit of a worry

And thats another 10 or so pens infected
The whole mart basically, I was at a breeding sale last year mid august where there was over 1,000 breeding ewes, all looked clean, meanwhile first lot through the ring was 4 pedigree texel yearlings which had obvious signs of scab 🤦🏻‍♂️

Some lovely pedigree ewes for sale this weekend at the local mart but there is no point me going as the mart is infected and I’m not taking 5-6 ewes to be dipped 🤦🏻‍♂️

I don’t know of any marts now that you could take stock back home with you if they didn’t meet the price you wanted now

Only an idea, and I haven't had any experience with scab/dipping etc, but could markets not set up a dipping station as an optional service? Pay per head and have them dipped before they leave the market??
