I'm not so sure.

There are plenty of knives out for him and plenty of replacements waiting in the wings but I don't think any of them want to take the job YET.

He’ll still be gone. More letters will be winging their way to the 1922 committee already, which will trigger a leadership contest. Who takes his place will come after that, and is rarely the front runner at the start of the contest.

There will be plenty that step forward to fill the vacancy, most of which will just be wanting that ‘top job’ to add to their CV.

Someone that is ‘moderate’ and comes across as more honest will help restore the Conservative’s popularity with the electorate, but would be likely to garner support from the lunatic right in the party.

But the conservative party has always been successful due to how well the party 'machine' does politics. I can well imagine that arrangement's will be being made for his replacement but for the sake of the party, he will be left to reap all he has sown and then replaced at a more opportune time when Covid etc. seems to be under control. They will want a honeymoon period to cover the next election.

I would have thought they’d need to put someone, anyone, in to stop the rot PDQ.

That's why I think around Easter, looks like Omicron will be over and largely C19 with it by then, summer's on the way, chance to 'reset' the clock for the next election.

Dumping Boris would be like sacking a football team manager. Unless you've got a better replacement lined up, it won't solve anything.

Raab looked like a rabbit in the headlights when Boris was in hospital, I wouldn't trust Gove as far as I could throw him, Sunak is still wet behind the ears, and as for the rest-nonentities, all of them.

Royal Mail reminds MPs to send any letters before the 21st to ensure they reach Graham Brady in time for Christmas.

I hope so. I have voted Tory all my life but this lot are a complete embarrassment. It is so out of touch when you are partying when people can't see family in their last moments! I am not sentimental but it is offensive to so many people. He is alienating so many of his core support with bonkers green policies, all of us on here when you see what they are planning for agriculture etc etc!
