Hire yes but it’s all costs when I could pay some help to come and split it on sight and fix the hydraulic controls, the latter he wouldn’t do.
If you split on site you could open more worms or really see what condition it is in, if this had not happened now and did it 3 months time! Who stands it then?. Er You, !!! I sometimes get problems with a 53 yr old one, she doesn’t make me tea! But I dare not say f**k all! 😂

I'm with the dealer on this one, the op made it clear that the dealer was willing to come over to take a look at the problem, so why drag his name through the mud.

The dealer has done nothing wrong in my opinion, as others have said even brand new tractors have mechanical issues, we have ad blue issues on machines which are less the 2 years.

I still can’t see why you can’t drive it if he’s an hour away? I’m an hour in a car away from most dealers and when I did a lot of tractoring this was considered a normal journey to pick up/swap machines etc….

Firby has such a good reputation that I started looking at a combine he has, not that I need a combine but his reputation is excellent 🤣🤷🏻‍♂️

We've bought several things off j r firby and all been as described. I think it is very unfair to blame firby or bring his name into this. I would be blaming myself for what has happened in your case for not checking it properly at the time. If everyone had this attitude towards machinery dealers non of them would be in business... there's a lot of farmers out there that bodge stuff back together and sell it... how are the dealers to know??

My experience of JR Firby has been good done several deals over the years, last combine I bought over the phone unseen on the Saturday landed in my yard on the Wednesday without payment. Combine was not old but there was a little bit of paint damage on a panel so in discussion he offered a sum of money to sort it which I declined until it was repaired. I removed panel and got it resprayed locally then refitted it. Repair incidentally was less than Richard had offered so hopefully he was happy and I was happy that repair was done can’t say fairer than that in my opinion so would happily deal again

This thread is a great example of why I've started buying stuff privately, or on an as-is basis. Why pay a dealer mark up for something that's "been through the workshop", when you can get the same machine on the private market for xx% less. If you can't trust the dealer to put the problem right at their own expense, what are they even there for?

If this Furby man was any sort of dealer, he'd pick the machine up, sort it out and drop it back at his own cost. So what if he takes a hit on the deal? You win some, you lose some. He's sold a "working" machine, it doesn't work (in a pretty important way), take it away, fix it, get the customer going. Oh that's right, it's not really about the customer though is it? It's about screwing every last dollar out of them.

I need a cup of tea and a lie down.

Hang on. The dealer has offered to put it right. He just hasn't been given chance yet.
And as usual we only have 1 side of the story and I can assure you there's at least 2 sides to every story.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet

The dealer had offered to sort the issue out.
I dont think the tractor was advertised that it had been through the workshop 🤷‍♂️
