Herding up some ewes today with the drone.

Then Santa came to help by shutting the gate.

Then another Santa came along to help us get them in the loading pen.

For some reason my two chaps spent all day in Santa costumes, they were real happy riding through the village several times in a tractor moving the sheep about. :)

now did you buy it, trade something for it ,or nick it :)

He was paid to take it away…..some chap in the village bought one from the shop, but it was on a “buy one get one free deal”. He only wanted one and because he was taking the bus home couldn’t carry the second one but they insisted he took it home.
When he got out the front door of the shop it just so happened @Hfd Cattle was driving past. The man flagged him down, and paid him £50 plus the Christmas tree to give him and the tree a lift home.

As it happened the fellow had 50ac of paddocks he owned around the village, all of which were littered with bales where the scoundrel who was renting the grass fields had abandoned them months ago. The chap asked @Hfd Cattle if he knew anyone who could dispose of them, and perhaps also would be able to maintain the grass in the paddocks going forward so the same thing didn’t happen again in future….

How good is the drone at herding , can you get them in the pens with it or is that a dog job

I could have got them in the pens but the pens weren't quite ready at this point, then I had to go away and take the drone elsewhere so we just herded them in the pens, the drone has done it quite happily in the past though I must remember to leave it parked above head height whilst I shut the gate as I walked into it once in my excitement of acheiving the goal.

The field in the foreground was where I got them from, not only is there a huge impassable ditch running almost all the way up to the top hedge from the water, the line of brambles on the left provides an almost infinite number of places for the sheep to hide and double back as the brambles are on a long mound about 15 feet high that you can't see over. The drone is champion at ewes, not quite so good if they have young lambs on though.

Sounds like these drones will be making the dogs redundant then over time !
Certainly looks appealing if the drone can get them roughly to where you want them 👍

I love this time of year! It's the one real time that my favourite phrase "that's how they get you!" means something. My wife called me scrooge the other day and she's going to regret that!

Bought our lad one of his presents today, he loves tinkering so hopefully this will be the beginning of a collection.
