Hi All
Been offered sheep rolls from 2 suppliers
Feeding Mules shortly after scanning for a late Feb /Early March Lambing
What's thoughts on best value feed

a lot depends on when your going to feed it and what with , winter lambing (jan- march) B , spring lambing flock prob a , but fed along with hay B , fed with quality silage A , though not keen on much sunflower seed , B is def better ration

Second one and if you're worried about the cost feed slightly less. It'll still be as good or better

Early March Lambing. will be on ad-lib silage after scanning in a few days
Triplets get ad-lib molasses as well

The lower Ash and Fibre figures do it for me. Plus better main (first few) ingredients.

B There’s not really much comparison tbh, 5hey are chalk and cheese.
Sunflower seed meal isn’t great, particularly so high up the list, and oat bran is just chaff.

And the soya content of A is one up from salt.

We were invited to join a buying group and the first time I went to a meeting was choosing which cake to buy. They voted for the one where the soya was below the vitamins. Didn't join the group

B is certainly the better value (probably still would be if it was £350!)

B's the better ration but It depends on the quality of what your feeing it with.

B all day long. Better ME, Vit E & Selenium, lower ash & fibre plus considerably higher quality ingredients that will 'feed' even better than the difference in analysis suggests.

B definitely appears the better ration but depends what your feeding along side it. Are you lambing inside ? If so how long before! With ration A you can feed a twelfth more for the same price as B . I’m sure you’ll make your own mind up for whatever suits your system and pocket.

Conversely, assuming your calculations are right, you could feed a twelfth less of the better ration, allowing the ewe to eat more forage and increasing total energy intake.
In reality, I would expect to feed more than that much less to see the same results.

A no-brainer imo, but I’d probably shop round a bit more.

Do the suppliers guarantee that the Analysis and ingredients are/will be the same for different batches?
