Can farmers relax or is it just me?

It’s Christmas, but after just a few hours of sitting around watching telly etc, supposedly relaxing, I start to get itchy feet thinking I should be doing something outside on the farm. Arrgghh! Does anybody else get like this, is it just a farmer thing?
The only time I really relax is when I’m away from the farm and preferably out of the country!

No I can’t relax. Two days in the house and I’m going up the walls. Need a new project. Beet harvest has ground to a wet halt and the annual pilgrimage to the MIL’s is cancelled for this year, so no nice sandwiches at Baldock services.

I'm exactly the same.

Glad it's not just me. I thought there was something wrong with me.

I get itchy feet and can't sit doing nothing.

Your body and mind needs downtime. Bloody phones and forums don't help matters cause as soon as sit down pick it up and come on here.

Dad always used to say, 'the things I do on Sunday are the things I want to do rather than things that need doing'. Most of the time it was 'plant a bag full of trees'. He loved his trees.
Going on holiday, I rarely think or worry about the farm. Last 10 years, all our foreign holidays have been organised by the same guy who runs a printing business. He is on the phone every evening, seems to be running it remotely.

It doesn't get any better. Pulled a tree out of the ditch and mended the fence it broke on Christmas day. More fencing yesterday. Cut firewood. Etc. I'd love to have a lie in but the dogs need out.....

Do not worry about it these days.
Find presenteesim an enthusiasm killer.
We are busy most of the time and really busy some of the time. No guilt whatsoever if away at something else. Only here the once.
My wife says when we get a 2 week break it usually takes 3 days to wind down and I tend to get a bit more tetchy 2 days before we head back.
In last 2 years I have had 15 days off farm where I have done nothing on it.
