Bobcat telehandlers

Anyone had one on demo or got a newish one? We bought a new bobcat skidsteer last year off AMS and are very impressed with reliability and service. We are now in the market for a telehandler and would really like to give them a try if the reliability of the skidsteer is anything to go by. Thanks

Try the newest model range as the massey one looks canny if it wasnt for the big price tag & totally unknown residual a few years down the line

6 newish bobcat machines local to us in last 12 months, have all replaced merlo and JCB side saddle machines and all seem to be going well
But it seems if you have a bendy JCB then you change it for another the same,a bit like the Manitou owners locally are sticking to Manitou.
If there was a bendy bobcat, would bendy jcb owners jump ship to bobcat?

Went to see latest machine - 8043 in MF colours having been disappointed with the old model earlier this year, new machine is vastly improved, angle of bucket tip being one. Wait to see price.

We have a 2020 model year 3060 which has now done over 1000 hrs. It replaced a merlo 32.6 that although having exceptional performance just wouldn’t stay together. The bobcat has matched the merlo in all respects performance wise with the only thing I miss being the diff lock for the pit but I still manage to get all the grass in so can’t have been that much of an advantage either.

The bobcat came with a 5 year warranty. There has been the odd minor issues with it but all sorted without any quibbles and service from dealer has been excellent, 7 days a week and out of hours cover if something does go wrong. Also on one occasion was given a replacement machine while ours was being worked on. They switched the “demo” one to have a merlo headstock like ours too so all attachments would fit.

I can’t remember the exact figures but the equivalent manitou was more expensive and didn’t come with the warranty that the bobcat did. Build quality is head and shoulders above a merlo and in my opinion better than a JCB too although we haven’t had a JCB machine for many years now but stories from friends and neighbours confirm that JCB build quality hasn’t improved since we had ours.

There are quite a few of them appearing locally here now as others have said. The warranty sold it to us to be honest as for the next five years we know exactly what it will cost us but we have been very impressed with its performance now too.

I think a lot of it is down to the finance and warranty package got offered a demo asked for a grantee buy back figure if wanted out there wasn’t one coming
The machine seemed a good pice of kit

Would you get the same figure from JCB, manitou or Merlo dealers? I totally understand your fears but looking at it from bobcats point of view, they give you 0% finance, 5 year warranty and you want a guaranteed buy back figure too, that’s not their business if you want that then lease / hire the machine so you know the total cost over the period?

If you commit to buy something then fundamentally the risk of what’s it’s worth second hand lies with the you it’s unfair to expect someone else to foot that risk.

The other way to look at it is how much less resale can you afford absorb knowing that you have a five year warranty and will have no unforeseen bills over the period. Every single time we had someone at our old merlo to fix it the bill was always £1k+ So a few of those soon make a risk of lower residuals seem insignificant.

just my opinion obviously but something to consider when labour is so expensive these days.
