no idea whether we will make as much money. But it won’t matter as much so I will much less likely to bottle it in the learning stages. . And I value experiences and relationships much more than “stuff” so money in my personal life doesn’t mean nearly as much.
plus if my son wants to farm In His own right in the future he won’t want the levels of debt I started off with in an unresilient business model.

Give him the levels of debt you had, keep him focused

But the difference was you had high debt and a poor business model.
You have now proven you have a business model that can support rapid debt repayment. This could alternatively be used for a long term repayment of a much larger debt.

Your investment horizon has changed but be very open to the next generations if they are keen.

Your current parlour will not last the next generation if they farm so large scale investment in the next 5 years is more sense than putting it off for 15 and making do.

Is a 24:48 a large scale investment?.

Cut this on 1st June this year, depends where you are I suppose but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, couldn’t of gone any earlier if I’d wanted as the contractors were weeks behind at the time.

I no that you can never stop still when you're farming but I don't know why any farmer want to pass on a debt to son /daughter it will be like a ball and chain round your neck just too milk more cows andit might hold back his personal life like no girlfriend or wife on grandkids cos he's always working to pat off your debt. Then again live like every day is your last farm as is your going to farm forever!

He’s thinking a roundabout. As he’s going to Put one in.
You don't need a roundabout. Yours works but won't do another 25 years so invest sooner rather than later.

I've spent 20k last 18minths so mine does another 10 years.

Planning is in for son to build roundabout in 10 years if he wants or me now if ai could get a grant.

Not a ball and chain if the assets are worth more than the debt!

Two types of farm round here those that have grown and increased efficiency using debt. And this that have remained around 100 cows and debt free.

I would rather inherit the efficient farm with debt every time

Yeah but read on here that the most profitable dairy farms are 1 or 2 man bands of about 120 cows so what is the point borrowing millions to milk 500+ cows trouble finding staff and the other headaches just earn a few pounds more profit
