Aye used to take saw in he took one look and said " fit the #### have you been cutting with this ,?
####ing stones?
One of the reasons I love going there, so rare to come across characters like that these days!

I had trouble with my saw oiling and went in to see if they could have a look at it, they were stowed out the doors with saws to service and was told it would be 6 months before they could take a look at it but within 2 minutes curiosity had got the better of Dan and it was in bits on the table and the feed pipe from the tank was cleared and it was sorted. I bought a new chain at the same time and there was no charge for the "service" I do buy all my consumables from them which was maybe why I wasn't charged. I can't recommend them highly enough, hard working family business.

I see there were a few options mentioned previously, but I keep looking at sthil ms170's (considering how cheap they are new) as a better alternative for carrying in the truck rather than the 032, but always liked huskys when I've used them. So what would the actual equivalent to an ms170 be? Doesn't need to be anything bigger and the 170's I've used seem to have been ok and for bigger work I've got access to the 032, 2x 076 and an 880

Ms170 and husky 236 are similar, but both pretty terrible. At that price bracket efco are the best saws. Obviously they are in a different league to an XP saw.

We had an old husky 65 saw,
Dan worshipped that saw when we took it in, he said when husky stopped making the 65 they started making the sh!te,
The saw was fantastic ran like a clock, though someone nicked it

this
is a lovely little saw old fashioned 2 stud /nut holding/ lateral screw adjusting the guidebar metal spike , no wonderful modern Carb mods ..... just a sound ,solid useful saw with no brand snobbery.
bigger cubic capacity and bit more power than that stihl and cheaper to buy.

I saw an advert for a 20 inch chainsaw recently, it was about £150 and had a 3 year warranty for home use I think? I'll try and find the advert.
you can get them with 3 year "warranty" for £60, still dangerous crap. makita or efco are the best budget options.

personally i would avoid the S (sh!te) series makita saws and stick to the F (farm) or P (professional) series.

these are much better built than the aforementioned S series:

I've an Efco. Lovely machine. I probably will get one of those 2 in 1 sharpeners though.

@Bobthebuilder how are you getting on with your stihl? We got one as well and I'm fairly well impressed with ours
