Upgrading Trimble signal

Hi

I have recently purchased a new to me sprayer which has Trimble CFX-750 screen running section control and EZ steering through an AG25 receiver. Currently it is running on the free EGNOS signal.

I would be interested to hear others opinions, would the EGNOS signal be good/accurate enough to run the section control or is it worth upgrading to the rangepoint signal? RTK would not be an option on our average/cropping

Mine's on RTX as is my other tractor with autosteer sprayer from May last year and tractor only late drilling. Must say very impressed.
Edit RTX is sort of a half way House between RTK and standard EGNOS I believe.

Good to hear. That’s the impression I got from reading up online. Is the RTX a one off activation subscription or is it a yearly one ?

Egnos in theory is fine for section control, but potentially if you leave a field part sprayed for any reason and return a couple of hours later with drift you may get misses.
That's similar with rtx though.

I tried egnos, and put up my rtk mast because of its limitations.

ran egnos last year on the case sp sprayer with autosteer and section control and thinking of going rtk as she is was running it before i got it as i could not make out my earlier wheel tracks as have no tramlines but its hard to justify for 180ac crop even though i can move it to the tractor

We use EGNOS for section control on our sprayer but initial tramlines go in off drill working on autosteer. Do you tramline off your drill?

Good point this. If the field is tramlined and you are using steering you’d be shifting the lines back but the section control would still be out as the applied area would have shifted even if the AB lines were pulled back accurate.

We tramline at the moment as before buying this sprayer we had no auto steer. If the sprayer auto steer works well i will probably move to putting tramline in with the sprayer or moving the steering wheel from the sprayer into the drill tractor.

no we dont tramline as find that even on egnos i am closer that the contractor drilling and dont move tramlines as i work of poles etc in the middle feilds

ps ended up puting in my own in some contractspraying ground last year as was that badly tramlined that its not tramlined this year.

It is a case sp sprayer I have bought aswell. We are similar acerage and don’t think I could stomach full RTk cost but a reasonable RTX cost I would consider if it is much better than egnos.

It is much better than EGNOS for pass to pass. I drill with RTX but wouldn’t consider it with EGNOS.

Both will suffer drift though….and strangely some fields are worse than others.

thats why i put a wireing harness and isobus in my NH tm155 so it can share the gps
though i am on agleader with a chc dome so dont have RTX option

The usability of the 750 will also depend on wether it's unlocked to glonass or not, if not the number of available satellites can be quite low.

I have a feeling it's a necessity for rtx.

I thought RTX sub provided GLONASS access regardless as part of the sub.

The cost of rtk is actually in the hardware and unlocks to get to that level of accuracy, the annual sub would potentially be similar.

I'm going to offer my signal in my area on the basis of if it's there, it's there, if not I won't be offering to help sort out issues with their equipment.
I won't be charging massively for it, maybe £200-250 a year per machine, with a max of £1k.

It may do, I don't know, but only one of mine has glonass.

If it does it's a good deal as the unlock would probably be more than the sub.

I believe it's a temporary unlock as long as you have an active subscription.

RTX will be fine, I have one tractor with RTK (2nd hand 750 was unlocked already so used it) and a new tractor is on RTX, not a lot between them to be honest. RTX does drift but very simple to nudge back if needed. For the price RTX is fine, do all my drilling on it, combi and Vaddy, copes going slow or fast (18+ kph)
Am sure it would be fine on section control, would just ensure it turns on slightly early and off slightly late to be 100% sure the pickets and ends are sprayed
