Spreading Fibrophos

Thinking about Fibrophos in the not to distant future.

I'm aware it's spread with a lime type spreader... Bredal, Amazone etc etc

My question is what widths are people spreading it too? Also what machine are you using? We're 24m tramlines and i would like to be spreading it on both established and pre-established.

Its very fine and easily blown. 12m be its limit

JSE of Ancaster supply and spread for us - 12m bouts, with a windshield on the spreader. Needs to be reasonably still.

I would suggest it is put on ahead of drilling so that crops have the maximum benefit of it to overwinter. That steady trickle of growth over winter keeps crops looking a lot happier.

Much much kinder on soil life than big doses of TSP or the like. For the majority of arable farms (and livestock in some cases) you should be avoiding bagged product as far as possible IMO.

It’s 12m really, although occasional loads are a slightly moist so I will go to 16m if conditions are dead still.

I use a contractor with a spreader that goes 27 m wide
using our tramlines works well and it can be applied after drilling

What kind of spreader is that? You would need conveyors & discs on outriggers to get that spread width. It is just too finely ground to fly much further than 12m no matter how fast the disc spins.

Blimey. I don’t know much about them, but was always told they will spread Fibrophos to a maximum of 18 metres.

Not trying to question your contractor by the way.

Don't those XE's only spread lime to 24m? I'd have thought Fibro would be a good bit less.

I had a dreadful experience with Fibrophos from start to finish.I really don’t know why people bother. Dreadful stuff, dreadful people, and dreadful results.
