Will we never get it right - PR Disaster !!!!

but the general public would expect cows to be frolicking about in green grassy fields on a sunny day.

It would help if the NFU and AHDB didn't constantly push the 'Good British cows live in fields, bad foreign cows live in feedlots'.
As with so much of the bad PR that comes our way, it is of our own making.

The result of shifting the narrative.

Today's Daily Mail story:

One litre can account for up to 4.5kg of CO2 being pumped into the atmosphere – the equivalent of driving the average petrol car for 16 miles."

No mention of the CO2 added in the supply chain, only farming. That is what happens when you focus the image elsewhere, and away from the real story.
These exact figures were quoted by a contributor on 5 live this morning, except that she said “does” rather than “can” account for 4.5kg of co2.
I sent in a complaint text but no response. These things just become standard narative.

We have to be much smarter in the portrayal or our Industry. Media can be positive, but also very destructive. This is a farming forum open to all and sundry to view. Once an image or story is posted anyone can use it for, or on many occasions against us.

This is an example of what is being posted on here, the anti's now have a ready made image to whack us over the head, and we have very little to argue against it.

Time to smarten up !!!

I foolishly made a very polite and simple post replying to a FB page by The Scouts and the possibility of using UK oats and pulses in preference to soy. Well, that was close to a week ago and I'm still getting messages now.

I tell you now that the BBC is simply not interested and will twist every story that mentions farms into an anti meat, eco disaster story.

Just walk away. It's like dealing with someone who just screams to drown out your response.

Yet, no one takes any notice as dairy and meat consumption are both rising, even with all this bollix! And the vegan population remains at a measly 1% of the population, the same as it’s been for 5 years now. The more the daft vegans and environmentalists shreak, the less everybody listens!
Or that 85% of vegans give up within the first 18 months as their health significantly deteriorates.

I read that one . My good lady has ordered me not to reply to vegan threads for my own sanity.

I thought I'd done a good job. I'm still getting a raft of direct messages, and a small number of direct replies that don't actually bother reading my post as it disagrees with their factually incorrect narrative.
I read that too, sometimes I think the world would be a far better place if the internet was switched off permanently.

An app for buying cheese. World's gone mad.

It was for 'special' cheeses, with artisan stories attached to make them appeal to those with little sense but lots of ££££'s.

They did tell the miserable cow how they absolutely did not use milk from any 'mega-dairies', and that their biggest supplying herd (they only retail cheese, not make it iirc) was 200 cows and they grazed grass.

.....and even a quick scan through their cheese listings will show that they don't know the products they are selling.
plain untruth (lie) to say their biggest supplying herd is less than 200 cows and grass fed.

Bit like this place sometimes then! 😂. With social media. Work on the fact that 20% of people only read 80% of your post . They then make up the remaining 20% in their heads!

There was also an interview on this with a bod from WRAP who confidently claimed agriculture contributed 35% of the UK's GHG emissions.

So, the BBC always skews the story away from the obvious positive narrative, omit any interview that doesn't suit their angle, "wrap" it up in lies and BS, and hey presto, Veganuary get s few more participants!!!

One wonders what goes through a farmers mind when they get the call "we'd like to come a film a piece for BBC Breakfast on your farm?" Surely by now, everyone in farming knows they're gonna get shafted by Auntie Beeb?!
30 years ago, I learned never to trust ANY journos in a recorded interview....

Not farming stuff, but it was a heavily skewed piece. When I did the follow up, I was asked if I wanted to do a phone piece..? Nope, I went into Shrewsbury and did a live 10min interview and made my point.
