Openreach are winning the race. While this was openreach (BT) the other telecom companies now have free run to use BT ducts and dig for cables. Its all rather sad, its a race to the bottom.
Surely, it's a Public Good, and the landowner should get SFI money for it....Why did they think they would get away with just digging a trench and running stuff on someone's property? That is a joke.

Lol there a blast from the pastscotchlocks
I did say this with a large tongue, well and truly in cheek.....It's not a public good, it's a private company, one that got control of the nation's assets for 5/8ths of fudge all as well.
This ^Or get the digger out and go looking for some drains you think might be blocked
Well almost certainly, the contractor went through said drain, when they put in the unwanted ducting in without permission...Or get the digger out and go looking for some drains you think might be blocked

I'm not one to let things like this slide.
It has brought it home to Mum that we can't look after this farmhouse and yard like we should.
It belongs to my brother who lives in Germany now, with lovely girlfriend.
He wants to sell.
Do I really want to start a full on with openreach?
House would sell better with good fibre connection.
The new owner would be bound to cut through the cable soon.
It would be their problem then.
I would offer all support I could.
Life's too short?
I hate myself already.
Don't you think Openreach know these things and is why they do what they do?Looking at the bigger picture here.

The only issue in reality, is by ripping out and removing the cable and duct, @Nearly could be accused of criminal damage, even if the duct should not be there...Fibre is outdated as 5g rolls out so it won't add any value to the property. Having had BT in the small claims court twice and won twice, go and rip it out because they have trespassed and caused criminal damage. They don't have a leg to stand on and by removing it you will cause them more hassle than any small payment they give you after a couple of years. They've inconvenienced you, so inconvenience them and keep doing it if they keep installing.
In that case he mustn’t admit to or get caught pulling it out.The only issue in reality, is by ripping out and removing the cable and duct, @Nearly could be accused of criminal damage, even if the duct should not be there...
Fixed that for youIn that case he mustn’t admit to or get caught pulling it out deliberately.
I’d like to here the plausible explanation as to how you pull it out accidentallyFixed that for you
