Records of cattle movements must be accurately kept to maintain traceability. (Revised)

How you will be measured
DR.TI.2.a
A holding register is kept for the cattle, which can be paper/computer based or a combination of both detailing births, deaths and movements.
DR.TI.2.b
The national database is notified within the required timeframe:- within 27 days of birth - 7 days of death - 3 days of movement
DR.TI.2.c
Passports or proof of application are available for all cattle on site.

The above is from red tractor's website, i don't have a herd management program nor do i keep a paper copy, i just use the CTS online website, is that ok? will that provide all the reports they need?

Just get an app and use it. It'll record everything you need for RT.

Been through everything now and have a long list, but should be doable, I might have a whoopsey though, didn't realise you were meant to keep all the collection tickets from fallen stock and haven't kept any of mine that I'm aware of, will the people who pick them up have copies still?

Not really as your record should match BCMS - is shouldn't BE BCMS. Your nearest thing is probably a diary? You must write somewhere what has been born to what cow, tag number etc and what has died/been sold?

Are you in the National Scheme? Do you get sent the annual statement? That is usually enough, they just want evidence that they are being disposed of properly and legally.

That makes sense as to why they want it stored elsewhere then, I didn't realise that as I've never had to look back at any movements, deaths, births etc
Movement info essential for disease control - eg the tracing of animals at the outbreak of foot and mouth and also TB tracings. On BCMS you say you sold something but not the holding number and of course at some point you may forget to do a movement. If the receiving farm doesn't keep their records on BCMS up to date /accurate then no idea where the animal has gone!

If you are paying for one and not using it, then you really do need to take a step back and sort things out! If you are using it then I suspect you would know!
Just checked and it's not really a management program, just a way of seeing data from milk recording, they claim it's "free" which will mean its been built into the cost of milk recording

I've applied for a free demo of uniform so will see how i get along with that

You probably mean Herd Companion. Yes it is free, even with a herd management programme we still look on Herd Companion at times.

you should have NMR herd companion, which gives lots of info, but not meds, movements etc. l have uniform, which is suitable, for everyone, from the 'not very computer literate, to the complete nerds'. And gives RT all those records.

Are you in the fallen stock scheme? We get a summary every year of everything we've sent off.

Just thinking do I not get a management program with NMR? I'm sure I remember seeing it on a bill at some point
A management prog will be set up to present reports in a way that satisfys RT & trading standards etc, etc.

@Jdunn55 I have PM you a copy of a Med & a Movement reports that satisfys the clipboard warriers

They are also keen on you being able to show which cows got ( for example ) the 24 dry cow tubes you bought
