Hell no! Bouncing about in a tractor driving flat out versus cruising along in a Volvo or Scania. I know which one I would jump forIt's just as boring in a lorry.

he must of had a few diesel dicks and cockw4mbles.Farmer who was here before us rented land near Sailsbury Plain to grow onions, took all tackle there and carted onions back here with Ford tractors and 12 tonne trailers, did it for two years, 300 mile round trip
Yeah, a lorry is more comfortable, but I maintain, it's still boring.Hell no! Bouncing about in a tractor driving flat out versus cruising along in a Volvo or Scania. I know which one I would jump for
I know of a man did this with a county 1184 from liverpool to east Scottish borders that would be a slow run home .I was in a local dealers yard a few years ago (Lincs) a guy pulled in with a LR 90 and Ifor trailer , hooked the trailer on a case IH 956/1056 loaded the 90 on the trailer and set off back to Devon .
Lads who have a bit of my yard will go anywhere in the country with their Unimog it is on DERV mind. You should hear about the distance some lads do on wood chip jobs
How about .kendal ,with mb trac and lowloader , onto ferry at heysham ,over to ireland ,and way down into southern ireland , for an old tractor , and backI know of a man did this with a county 1184 from liverpool to east Scottish borders that would be a slow run home .
That's the way to do it !!How about .kendal ,with mb trac and lowloader , onto ferry at heysham ,over to ireland ,and way down into southern ireland , for an old tractor , and back
There is no legal restriction on load height here, but you are responsible for making sure you can go under the bridgessurely that carnt be a legal height load ?
If that was the intention then that would be the law, truth is its not eitherThere is no question the law is being treated as a joke. The intention of the law is quite plain that a 15 miles radius was the intended distance a tractor should travel from base.
I confess I have more than a few times exceeded this but some people are taking the P. The law is not clear and there is little doubt that it is full of holes which people ar driving a coach and horses through.
The end result will be no red diesel and full MOT for agricultural trailers

My grandpa drove 500km each way to fetch a seaworthy wood boat from Sweden in his International 956XL. But he has no perception of time since he had a brain stroke in late 80's.Driving 90 miles, I think I'd simply die of boredom before facing a courtroom on those charges.
Edit: my god I've just looked it up and its 90 miles each way. Get a lorry you cheapskates.
When the law was made a Fordson major was a serious tractor and nobody in there right mind wanted to regularly haul 15 miles. If that was the intention then that would be the law, truth is its not either
I seem to remember a story from the 1950’s when some farmer here took his family on a trip across Europe in a David Brown 30 and a transport box, think they got to JugoslaviaMy grandpa drove 500km each way to fetch a seaworthy wood boat from Sweden in his International 956XL. What's the difference between more than a few times and taking the pee? Exactly how many times can you exceed before you start taking peeThere is no question the law is being treated as a joke. And how is 15 miles enough? Some folk have fields over 30 miles away. What's the difference between more than a few times and taking the pee? Exactly how many times can you exceed before you start taking pee
I did not set the law, nor would I want to dictate how far is reasonable. Used to have neighbours who in the 1970’s used to have 1 silage gang working from Peterborough to the Isle of wight. What's the difference between more than a few times and taking the pee? I think you’re dreaming if you think that when Red goes you’ll be able to claim back the tax. The argument will be that farmers need to cut their carbon footprint and a tax on fuel will concentrate their minds. It’ll have the benefit of raising quite a bit of revenue without upsetting too many voters.IMO they probably will do away with red, be worked like vat system and claim the difference back.
thats a 12 hour trip (based on average of 25mph which is probably on the high side.) How was that even practical let alone viable!Farmer who was here before us rented land near Sailsbury Plain to grow onions, took all tackle there and carted onions back here with Ford tractors and 12 tonne trailers, did it for two years, 300 mile round trip
