Regarding your cows @Water Wheel if you budgeted £1200 you would probably be pleasantly surprised but if you budget £1500 you could well be slightly disappointed- on a good day however you could well hit that
Market drayton are selling herds/cows week in week out so there report would be well worth reading. I would hazzard a guess your herd of allsorts would av £1000 /cow

If you have flirted with tb in the recent past surely selling them all in one lot would be the sensible option ? 60 days from a clear test before need retesting.

Is it not the case that when you sell a herd of working cows they are exempt from CGT and income tax on the profit of the sale for that year?

Try 4 fresh through the ring and decide from there. What ever you do make sure the 3/4, empty or faulted cows don't go through the breeding sale ring. Dry them off and fatten them up.

Provided a herd basis election is in place, yes, otherwise taxed as income.
Going back in to the same type of herd within 5 years will unwind the tax savings.
