Will the cold start work with the key in that position or do you have to hold the key half way like on an old tractor? Its a 2007 MF6455.

How do people mount the kuhn straw blower box in the tractor. The heavy weigh of the cable pulls it off the arm mount.

you need some help, to get things sorted out, and back under control. If you don't, you will be chasing your arse sorting messes out, and never succeeding, and leave the 'proper' - which pays the bills, - not being done, because you spend all your time, dealing with 'disasters'. And it really doesn't take a lot to get straight, once done, life is so much easier. Just spend some precious cash, and do it.
It's the same here, not much spare time in the day after you have done all the day to day chores, then when something goes wrong you lose time sorting that out, then your chores back up, then before you realise your on a downward spiral not getting very much done. Then your chasing your tail like there's no tommorow.
I've the new shed up, but I've still got 21 heifers out as i can't get the time to plumb the water troughs in, same with my young 8 week old heifers, can't move them on ( no water in the new shed) so I've young calves in the new shed on buckets in big pens, but it takes longer to feed them than in the individual pens.
Getting trades on farm is almost impossible, I'm waiting for plumbers and electricians for over 12 months, everyone's too busy.
I've managed to get the local garden maintenance guy to give me a hand in a week or so (ex army and ex farmworker) so hopefully shall get the plumbing sorted in a couple of days, and heifers in. Will get the vet technician to dehorn the heifers, then hopefully I can concentrate on what pays the bills !

Could you not tie a bungee to the cable maybe half way along between the tractor and the kuhn, and the other end onto the rear of the tractor, then that holds the weight of the cable and not the box.

Sounds familiar sadly

then every now and again a clever dick will pop up on here saying they could easily milk 100-150 cows as a one man band and still have a part time job……..

unless you’ve been there and done it people have no clue what it’s like. One thing goes wrong and your whole day seems to go to pot…….

Problem is, I could very easily milk 300 cows on my own with just a part time relief milker and a calf rearer, plus someone coming to ai the cows and do heat detection and having contractors to do everything field work wise
But then I unfortunately need to find £700,000 to pay for the new sheds, parlour, slurry pit, silage pits and equipment which I haven't unfortunately saved so far

Yeah @Jdunn55, who couldn't milk 300 cows by themselves if they had plenty of help and money.
funny, I could do with another member of staff, scraping by with odd bits off help from a few different people. But when ever I try someone out, it seems to result in getting even less of my own jobs done than normal and appreciating how good the staff I already have are.

Exactly my point, I love the posts on here about Labour, oh I milk 10000 cows on my own except from relief milkers
Then you dig a bit deeper,
Genus does heat detection and ai
Have a calf rearer for calves on milk
Once weaned replacement heifers are contract reared
Someone comes in and does the book keeping
Contractors to do all the field work
Someone comes in and scrapes up and feeds up
Plus the mentioned relief milkers
Then they just spend spend day organising the above!

Always easier to tell someone else what to do. 😂

Ready for the Lear jet!
We tested just shy of 900 this week and had one solitary reactor today. I'll investigate AFUs next week when I've calmed down but I will probably have to rear 400 blue and Hereford calves this spring to 8 weeks before either giving them away or sending them to slaughter and it means my 40 cows due to calve in August will all be culled this month. Tb will end my farming career before anything else. Sh!t day..
Tested here last week, 1 reactor. In the last year we've had two consecutive clear tests, first disregarded because it was 3 days too soon( ministry advised the dates), another test 3 IRs on severe, one tested positive on gamma, then the last test 3 after skin and gamma. It's a sh!t show.
