What are u paying per litre?err, dunno about UK Hiluxes, but fuel consumption has improved on them here with each model & my 2014 3.0 is about the same size as my old 1980’s 2.4D & current model 2.8. They are all pretty much the same size when parked next to each other
Used to cost a bit over $100 to fill my HZJ75 when I bought it new, now costs about $250, fuel has gone up a lot since then
Head gasket finished out last 504 car

Dont remember a maestro pickup but we ran a big fleet of 2l did Van's, noisy but very reliable and economical, we would sell them at 3 years and 100k+ miles and many were running round the South West with 250k + miles until the rust got them.
