The Farm yard entrance is away from the house .
The entrance has a gate and might be used several times each day and by several different people .
The gate used to be closed every evening ( just latched ) but now it has become necessary to lock this gate .
However a key and padlock is not practical .
There is no power at the gate now but could be done .

So what are my options Are there any GSM locks for farm gates or is there another solution .

As above why is a padlock and chain not practical? Have one of these on a gate quite easy to use

From what you are describing it sounds like an electronic gate would fit well.

We have an electronic gate on a track into the HGV side of the yard (Weaving machinery gate to be precise) it's on a GSM phone setup so who ever needs access dials the appropriate number on the board to be let into the yard.

Pm me If you would like more information

Pushing in the centre of a 16’ gate with a Zlock will give enough to open it,so I wouldn’t be bothered with one.
If its not being opened[ double gate] every day you can drill a hole in the end of the locking pin and add a padlock to it so you effectively have two locks to overcome. Nothing is totally secure, but slowing down or deterring the lazy thief is about all you can hope for.
