the last 2 I have done we didn't get the go ahead until june/july which is annoying because you still only get the 2 years from the January to complete capital works

Had an email 2 weeks ago saying approval for latest scheme would not be early Jan, but did not specify when

The payments will be just as slow, so prepare yourself for it!
Scheme approved last year, fencing & hedging claims were paid in about 6 weeks last winter, Had one last December money in the bank in 3 weeks.
Payment for bird areas & buffer area next to stream came as predicted in Dec

That's capital payments, the area payments can easily be 12/18 months behind

We've got 2, one 'accepted' July, one April, both run from Jan 1st. Lunacy. Payments and the Nazi style inspection style have improved in lst 3 years.

Piece in FW about this and how far behind they are.
There is no way they will be able to cope with all the new schemes.
Apparently one of the computer systems is very old and says NO a lot!!
Mapping system is also a mess, I have had a load of marsh dykes changed to hedges!! They can stay as hedges as the payment rates could be higher.

Still not been paid for CS which was due in December!

If only that was true. Brexit hasn't happened and while things are getting even more testing with extra admin no governments are in any rush to further increase food price inflation.

But of course everything will be fine now that we have Free Trade Agreements with Australia and NZ and five years or more down the track when all that Beef and other agricultural products come here we will need all this money as Park Keepers.

Not sure that will happen very quickly though.
Luckily for the government the pound is getting stronger against most major currencies, therefore cheaper imports and the pressure comes off inflation.

However there are a few issues that might speed the process up.
If Putin does invade Ukraine which is highly likely as Russia needs food security, which at present it doesn't have. It has control of Gas but not food.
The world supply of wheat is I believe at very low levels.
High grain prices will keep livestock prices high in the short term.

We are sadly irrelevant as we produce only about 0.6% of GDP

All good points except the last , although irrelevant in world terms we are vital to the UK , even more so since we left the EU protection racket
