If McDonalds ever went 100% Plant based what would the impact on the beef trade be ??

In undertaking some scientific research recently I bought a McPlant and Veggie Dippers as well as a Big Mac and chicken selects.

( contrary to popular belief I didn’t eat them all myself!) but undertook a taste test

result was :-
McPlant tasted very similar to the Big Mac… the plant burger itself was less chewy, obviously not meat, but not unpleasant and if I had been given the McPlant in a blindfold test I may not have been able to identify it as Plant

dippers we’re surprisingly ok, red pepper and vegetables formed into a dipper, could have done with being thicker and less squidgy but again surprisingly not unpleasant

so………..

What would happen to the beef trade if McDonalds went Plant based and ditched beef altogether ?????

I’m not intending to be alarmist but it did occur to me that in our current Woke society, that they might just do it at some point in the future

Very little I'd think, people who wanted a real burger would go else where. Burger king or in Ireland we have a huge number of a chain called supermacs. Given a choice side by side supermacs burgers win ever day. Way more meat in them and you'd be full till the next day, McDonald's you'd be hungry again in a few hours

They have the whole elephant in the room of the ingredient list to deal with in some of these synthetics:

I’m certain this over-simplification of nature with hyper-processing will have a day of reckoning in the near future.

Farmers would grow more veg. Lots of ground currently used for beef/lamb/dairy production is suitable for veg, and if the demand is there someone will supply.

Ain’t never going to happen. The girl at the drive in today said the plant based is about 4 people as day. They serve 2000-3000 per day….

The other elephant in the room is the synthetic fermentation/bacterial slime/biological synthesis that goes into making plant products resemble animal products.

We know what can go wrong with animal products, e coli, salmonella etc. and what can go wrong with dairy products, all the organisms that can be in unpasteurized milk, to listeria etc. Basically the processes have been worked out over many centuries, and we've adapted to the processes as well as adapted the processes, to the point that meats and dairy are extremely safe and wholesome, compared to the alternatives. Even plant "milks" are basically lightly processed uncarbonated soft drinks. The number of toxins that could be produced in a fake blood production vat will shock the natural health food faction.

Right now the production process is somewhere around the pilot plant scale, when the process ramps up, the quality and process control slips, the plants get a few years old... You may not have the stomach to eat a rare steak from some meat plants if you could watch the process, but I bet the reality of fake meat will turn out worse.

I think the meat would go elsewhere to where the demand goes. Not many people actually want to eat the disgusting fake meat that will probably give us cancer one day. It would be business suicide
