I hope this is ok to post in this section. Many of you are aware, and I want to thank those that have helped in sending me properties to apply for, etc, that our tenancy is up at the end of March. The farm is being sold soon after, we think. At the moment we have some options we are looking into, however, it feels hopeless, as there are too many people applying for them. I know everybody says to do everything to stand out and we are. Our business plans are up to date etc and plan for what we would like to do, and are ready to go into action when the right place emerges. Unfortunately, as we are nearing the closing date of our tenancy, and nothing is of certainty, we are starting to prepare for the inevitable of selling the animals and the business. It is a very difficult time for all of us, everything we have seemingly worked for, for the past 20 years just being taken from us. Does anybody on here know of anything going, wherever in the UK? It sounds desperate and I do not like to do things out of desperation, but sometimes we have to swallow our pride and go for it. If anyone knows of anything, if its just a whisper of something going to happen soon, or anything, can you dm me with what you know?
thanks

What do you require? House on site? Just a site to house and milk the buffalo a site to make the cheese too?
House on site would be better. Its really for housing and milking them. So buildings, land etc. Anything between 50 and 100 is good. We have units kitted out for cheesemaking so that's not a prob, but would need to put them somewhere on site

That Is true. To be fair the places we went to they were not allowing people to do it unless they had a sturdy business plan and could prove it would make the money. Unfortunately no matter the business plan for us, people don't want water buffaloes. Everyone is for beef and sheep, despite our business producing and selling mozzarella, milk etc and being able to prove how good it is,, awards we have won for it and so forth and a plan for becoming even more successful. At the moment we are on the brink of achieving what we want, the business is about to really take off. But again the committees are almost always old school and stuck in beef/sheep/commercial dairy and are unwilling to even consider an alternative that actually has proved to be successful. It's difficult

In my experience you can make a business plan say what ever you want the reader too read it’s not difficult too make a business look amazing and stack up on paper… but it never works that way in reality … that’s why you see quite a bit of turn over on some farms

I had an incident happen yesterday. Had 1 local and 2 unknown around here... Try to meet up at the farm, in the middle of my brother milking, we think to discuss buying it etc. Without permission to enter the farm. My brother turned them away. Going to speak to our landlady about it today, it's unacceptable tbh, no decency at all. I want to ask though... If we can't find a place in time... Or even a house... Your landlord/lady can't throw you out onto the streets can they? Legally that is

Im no legal expert but pretty sure if you refuse too leave it can take a few years for them too get you out properly, but doing that would make getting a tenancy anywhere else pretty much impossible nobody’s gonna take you on if youv a history of refusing to leave… I’d also advise not being akward with any potential buyers, you never know they could be just land buyers investing there money and want a tenant in the place…..

I know the person in question though and I know how he is. He isnt really the sort to take on a tennant and we don't have a good history with him. Even still I think to ask is the right way to go. It's still private property until the place officially comes on the market

Cornwall Council have a 60 acre livestock holding with 3 bedroom house for rent at the moment, wishing you all the best 👍
Unfortunately that farm has pretty much been rented before the viewing day last week, would quite happily put all my savings into who I reckon will get it. After all it's not what you know but who you know when it comes to the council
