Exercise headless chicken is nearing completion.

Putin: exercise 'Defend Our Border' is now complete for our SW region. Further exercises may take place on other national border areas at any time.
As time and again repeated, these are purely defensive exercises and NATO members should recognise this right and stop behaving like headless chickens.

Panic over? Can we all get on with our lives now?

Well that will be his regime's spin, certainly. But everyone would know that Vlad was pushing to see what he could get away with, and then ran away like a naughty little boy when he saw he'd get his fingers burnt. (y)

Which us exactly what I said he would do only last night. The west just needs to shut up and not gloat about him backing down.

If this is correct then Vlad should be thanked for being a grown up and stepping back. Sadly with the internet real time reporting has destroyed any chance of diplomacy working.
I suspect this is only a small part of a constant niggle at the borders

Putin has made his country £Billions.

Whilst the Cake eating Phat Philandering Phudge Monkey throws tax payers money around like confetty.

1p income tax thrown away to criminals by incompetant Westminster morons.

But look Vlad is a nasty Russian .....

It's in Vlad's interest for Gas prices to be high.

If that takes posturing then it's well worth it.

If he can supply Chinese/Russian agriculture whilst starving Western agriculture all the better.

You forgot to mention that the mates he had made £billions for, have bought up prime London real estate and footy clubs with it.
Meanwhile his other mates, swan around England’s green and pleasant lands, poisoning folks that annoy Mr. Putin.

Oh ho, I sense an attempt at self-righteousness here... care to tell us how much property / investment these Ruskis have in the ROI will you?

When you finish that list, share with us all just how much they've got in your beloved EU, and how many bought EU nationality as well, please. :)

There is one thing for certain. The West caused bread queues in Russia post Glasnost. During all that misery, only the Oligarchs gave relief and of course made their fortune.

Putin sorted out some of the Oligarchs whilst others retreated into the West - including London.

For Ordinary Russians Putin is saviour, whilst the West has made millions of enemies for no good reason that I can see.

TBH I have no idea on the monetary amounts dealt with in the UK. Seeing as the UK spends more on military than Russia (Supposedly), I bet the corruption in the UK is far deeper than you suspect - probably interlinked with property & banks.

It's a nice idea to have an enemy. But TBH I don't buy it. We have lots of enemies in our own poltical arena and TBH I don't see many, if any saviours.

No. He just 'taxed' them, for national and personal enrichment.

As for his being a saviour... you are entirely wrong. Of course there are some on the Russian Alt-right (and left) who like him, but not 'Ordinary' Russians. Just take a few facts into consideration...

The Russian economy has tanked for the last eight years, just gone down as the cost of living has gone up. Polls in Russia consistently give a 50%+ result saying Russians want to emigrate - and a majority of those (but not all) to the US. They also tell us that they don't rust the police, the Courts, politicians of the general news-media. They've seen it all before... Russians watched ever larger amounts of their money spent on 'defence' during the Cold War, and it didn't work.

Look at Russian infrastructure, the rail and road systems are knackered, so are the health and education services, all the money that should have been spent on them - and was promised - has gone on the military and 'security'...

You surely can't be daft enough to think that the average 'ordinary' Russian is stupid enough to openly criticise his dictator, can you? They've seen what happens when you do that; don't construe lack of criticism for approval.

No, Vlad's ruined their economy and the people know it, they just can't do anything about it, yet.
